Miguel Tejada traded to Houston Astros

I receive text-message updates from WNST.net and AM 1570 in Baltimore. Just now I received a message that Orioles SS Miguel Tejada has been traded to the Astros for five players: Luke Scott, Matt Albers, Troy Patton, Dennis Sarfate and Michael Costanzo.

Update: Link now available.

Thanks, Harvey_Bars!

Wow! The Orioles have finally made a trade that benefits them. This is going to look like a pretty bad deal for the Astro's when Tejada's name comes up on the Mitchell report tommorow.

The last good trade I remember the O's making was in 1988: Mike Boddicker to the Red Sox for Brady Anderson and Curt Schilling. Schilling didn't stick around very long (two years) but Brady did pretty well in Baltimore.

Nice work, Peter Gammons. Good insider info. Any news about the Giants and the proposed Alex Rios-Lincecum deal?

Comment from Troy Patton, one of the traded Astros, regarding today's move: "It's kind of really disappointing, honestly."

I can't blame him for being disappointed. Baltimore may be a better city than Houston, but it's certainly not a better franchise, at least not for the past 10 years.

who cares about the past, when he's playing there in the future. suck it up troy, it's a business and you have a chance to make a bad team better.
