Well there was some speculation about whether Jon Niese would start on Tues. Just Saturday Lo Hud Journal had an article quoting pitching coach Dan Warthen as saying that Niese was doubtful to start because he didn't like the match-ups. Well either that was a smoke screen, the Mets didn't have a better option or Warthen was over ruled because the Mets announced that Niese...

With the Mets in Florida, Billy Wagner is back in New York playing catch. Wagner, who was assigned to the disabled list on August 5, has been "long tossing" all last week in an effort to stretch out the stiffness in his right shoulder.

Billy Wagner is expected to throw off a mound Monday in New York. He could pitch in games in Brooklyn later in the week.
Jerry Manuel confirmed Jon Niese as Tuesday's starter in Milwaukee. The Mets also confirmed Bobby Parnell as a call-up.

With the New York Mets (75-60) trailing 2-1 in the ninth inning and two outs, Marlins closer Kevin Gregg gave up singles to Luis Castillo and David Wright, then hit Carlos Delgado with a pitch to load the bases and Carlos Beltran ripped a grand slam on the first pitch from Gregg.
