Here's a few interesting items I've come across over the past few days in regards to the farm system......John Strubel of New York Mets Daily has a great interview with Bobby Parnell. By the way look at who he credits with helping him adjust, the same guy most of us want off the team while we scream for veteran leadership ( I'm so confused)...."Joe Smith, Mike Pelfrey, Marlon Anderson, they'll all reach out and help you."Josh Thompson of Lo Hud Journal takes a close look at Eddie Kunz's struggles for two seasons in the AFL along with his shacky starts in AAA and the majors. Also linked is a very foretelling draft report summary.......In case you missed it Adam Rubin of the Daily News vistited Peoria and has three excellent interviews with Dan Murphy, Eddie Kunz, and Josh Thole.Meanwhile Toby Hyde at Mets Minor league ball tells us how good Brad Holt's fastball is, F-Mart is off to a hot winter and Jason Vargas is player of the week...Another great i...

Interest in Molina ?

I made my case for Bengie Molina almost a month ago, in my opinion he's the total package of exactly what this team needs. He's a durable, proven veteran and a good clubhouse leader. Not only can he handle a young pitching staff but he's one of the best hitting catchers in the league. Molina is in the last year of his contract and there has been speculation that the Giants...

Give Jose a break.....

No, this isn't a post about how the rest of the NL east plays the Mets every night like a playoff game because they've been outraged by Jose Reyes antics. I only have one thing to say about that situation, if you're going to bring that type of heat on yourself and team, then you better be able to shut them up. Otherwise, tone it down and not because anyone tells you too...

Closers market

The Mets can't be passive as they have in the past two years with relievers, they must go out and find a closer, but where will they find one.......There's the big two in free agency in K-Rod and Brian Fuentes. I think if the reports are true the Mets have all but past on K-Rod, while Fuentes remains a distinct possibility. Kerry Woods and Trevor Hoffman are probably staying...

Mets outright three....

According to rotoworld the Mets have sent RHP Nelson Figueroa, LHP Adam Bostick and C Gustovo Molina outright to AAA Buffalo. The three will now become minor league free agents and will have the opportunity to re-sign on minor league contracts or test free agency. With the rule five draft coming up the Mets need to make sur they have roster room to protect the prospects.I hope Figgy...

The Pedro quandry

Should the Mets re-sign Pedro Martinez? It's a tough one.

Mets corners are loaded

The NY Post is reporting that both David Wright and Carlos Delgado have been given permits to have guns in their respective homes. Delgado filed to carry a handgun, but was denied.

The Cliff Floyd I Know

Don't know how I missed this on Sunday, but the Rays deactivated Cliff Floyd from their postseason roster because of a sore right shoulder. I'm not surprised in the slightest bit. I love watching Floyd play because:a. he played harder than any player I've ever seenb. His swing was absolutely vicious. He smoked balls.c. The moonball. Wow did his homers go far.d. He looked...

Daniel Murphy hurt in AFL All-Star Game, but not serious!

Daniel Murphy, the New York Mets impressive young outfielder who is playing second base in the Arizona Fall League, is expected to return to action in a day or two after taking a spike to the forearm in last Friday night's "Rising Stars" all-star game. Murphy had to be taken to a Phoenix-area hospital because of the cut to his arm and hasn't played since then.

Holliday shoppers market open, but that does not mean Mets will get him...

As I mentioned in a earlier post last week, the Rockies are looking to trade Matt Holliday. They are looking to get a pitching prospect that can develop in a number 2 starter. That leaves Jon Niese and Robert Parnell as two candidates the Mets can use as chips to get involved in the talks for Holliday. The Mets do not want to depart with Niese, who the Mets have high hopes for...

Rumors: Mets might be a match with Tigers for Magglio Ordonez !

A recent article in the Detroit News by Lynn Henning suggests that the Tigers might entertain the idea of trading Magglio Ordonez to free up salary.Lynn Henning says in the article :A critical question is whether the team can expect to achieve anything other than payroll relief if it trades Magglio Ordonez. The Tigers aren't in favor of trading a career .312 hitter on Ordonez...

Mets Looking For Closer?

The Mets are reportedly hoping to trade a couple of prospects for a closer like Huston Street or JJ Putz. According to Newsday, the Mets would like to spend their money elsewhere and have no problem unloading a couple of prospects for a legitimate closer. Among other closers, George Sherrill or Joakim Soria could fill in long term and save the team a lot of money. If the Mets would...

Castillo will not be traded for Guillen!

Many have raised question that Luis Castillo might be traded for Jose Guillen. Joel Sherman of the NY Post wrote that he learned such a trade was discussed last July and that an unnamed executive "thought" the deal might be revisited this offseason. Dick Kaegel of MLB.com writes, "The whole scenario doesn't sound right because a) Castillo went on the disabled...
