700 Level:
Ryan Church was cruising around third base and seemingly reached home easily on what would have been the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th inning at Dodgers Stadium. Joe Torre quickly signaled towards third base and the Dodgers threw over to challenge whether Church had touched the base on his way to home. The umpire didn't hesitate and called Church out and the inning ending tied at 2 a piece.
The Dodgers loaded the bases in the bottom half of the 11th and Los Angeles won it on the Mets fifth error of the night. Dodgers won by a final of 3-2.
Kudos to twitter user metschick with the line of the night regarding Church's antics, "Just like a guy, skips third base intent on scoring."

LOL!
Because after Ryan Church misses third base on the go-ahead run in the 11th, and two errors in the bottom of the frame (one of which came on the double play ball that would have unbelievably gotten the game to the 12th) gives the Dodgers the game, what the hell else is there to do but laugh ... out ... loud?I really hate f*&#ing baseball sometimes. I really do.
Is The Timing Right For Fernando Martinez?
There’s a few stories out there today about how Ryan Church may be dangerously close to becoming a former Met. I’m not sure how to feel about that. One base running blunder should not be reason enough to get rid of someone and calling for his ouster. Would this even be a consideration if it [...]

Jerry Manuel Is A Violent Fellow
Last season, Mets manager Jerry Manuel jokingly threatened to pull a knife on Jose Reyes in the media because Reyes showed up Manuel during a game.metsblog.com:“I told him the next time he does that, I’m going to get my blade out andcut him, right on the field. Hey, I’m a gangsta now. You gogangsta on me, I’m gonna have to get you now.”And now, after Mets OF Ryan Church...

The New York Mets A Quarter Season in Review
All right, so I've jumped the gun a little (the Mets are 21-17, giving them 38 games played, which means they're shy of the 1/4 season mark), but I haven't been too active on this blog and I'd like to get up to speed. Unofficially tied for first place with the Philadelphia Phillies (percentage points separating the two), it's been a wild, up-and-down ride for...
Bearded
First, the good news: The Mets at least bounced back with a little fight after Monday night's brutal loss ... which is very much unlike the last time they needed to bounce back from a bad loss. The bad news? Of course they still lost.I was looking more beyond the result, which was sealed by Casey Blake and his gargantuan, yet gritty beard (gee, maybe if Carlos Beltran grew a beard...
Turnpike Series - The Anatomy of a Loser: The New York Mets
Good teams have good leadership. In baseball more than most sports, good leadership is essential to winning championships. 162 games is a long grind and team chemistry and an unwavering belief in yourself and your teammates is needed to win a division championship. Much of this leadership needs to be fostered by the manager. The New York Mets just do not have that type of leadership...
Mr Mets Daily - Mets look like Little Leaguers in brutal loss!!!
I don't know what it is with the Mets. They are in first place, they have been winning much more then losing of late, they have done some good things, but sheesh----when they lose they lose ugly! They dropped an eleven inning, 3-2 decision last night to the Dodgers. It is another game the Mets should have won.
Case in point (this will help you with my Little League reference...
The Last Word On Last Night
The Mets committed a comedy of errors last night but not many bleary-eyed fans were laughing.
If you were dedicated (crazy) enough to last past 2:30 in the morning, you were treated to arguably the worse 11th inning in team history. First, Ryan Church misses third base on a Angel Pagan double and the go-ahead run [...]
Musings From a Bewildered Mets Fan
We met fans are a masochistic lot. Experience has taught us this team will find new and innovative ways to torture its most ardent supporters, and time and again the organization fails to disappoint. Yet, we continually come back for more.Last night, the Mets faced the Dodgers in the opener of a set of weekday games with that always-welcome 10:15 p.m. EST start time. Sadly, I stayed...
Delgado may return despite surgery...
Between Jerry Manuel's less then positive out look on Carlos Delgado's condition and the prospect of surgery, most of us Mets fans, have come to accept the idea that Delgado might not be retuning this year.Delgado is an older player, which will make him slower to recover and with the amount of tork he places on his hips, it will be hard for him to rush back, besides the fact...
Mr Mets Daily - Mets drop another ugly one....
I will say this about the NY Mets; they are not boring. They always seem to flip flop from one extreme to another. After winning the first three in San Francisco and getting Mets fans hopes up, they turn right around and prove they can give it right back in the blink of an eye after three straight error filled losses.
John Maine was not effective last night during the Mets 5...
