B-REF PREVIEW | GAMEDAY | WEATHER | ACB CHAT ROOM
Jason Bergmann vs. Cubs hitters: 9-29, HR
Ryan Dempster vs. Nationals hitters: 0-12
When and Where: 1:20, WGN
Sunny, 76?, wind blowing straight in at 11 mph.
Bergmann has started twice against the Cubs in his career, both of them last season. The Cubs won both games though he was decent overall. No Cub hitter has seen him more than 7 times. Soriano is 2-7 with a double, Ramirez is 2-6 with a double and Lee is 2-3 with a home run. No word yet on whether or not Lee will play today after leaving yesterday with neck spasms, but Daryle Ward is also 2-3 against Bergmann. Only 3 Nationals hitters have faced Rich Harden and they're a combined 0-12 with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.

You know, if the Nats really want extra coverage on LBS, this is all they really have to do. Contributor JS emails in with the news that his Cubbies handed it to the Nationals on Sunday, giving Ryan Zimmerman the coveted Golden Sombrero. Considering Zimmerman's the three hitter for the Nats, you wouldn't [...]
Phils like Costco
The Phillies are just like Costco, dealing ass kicking by the bulk. 8 runs Friday, 9 runs Saturday. Do I dare suggest they go double digits tonight?

kcab si yaraC yrraH (That's "Harry Caray is back," spelled backwards)
Years before most of the English-speaking world was convinced it could do a passable Harry Caray impression, Jim Volkman was a regular on Chicago radio and had established himself as the master Harry mimic.
Well, Harry (Jim) is back now, at 1908worldchampions.com, where he recently started a game-by-game commentary on the Cubs season, with assistance from two other great voices...

Recipe for disaster......the pen
Well the Mets have created quite a buzz in their last two losses, it seems like everywhere you go in the Mets blogosphere there is one thing being discussed the bullpen. In today in the New York Observer Howard Megdal tells us just how bad they are.....The bullpen is awful by the standards of the very worst teams in Mets history. The last 5 weeks for the Cubs and Brewers
I wanted to get this published before the game thread today since the numbers will change after today's games. The table is too large to post here so click on the link below.

The last 2 column headers in the table log5-wpct and log5-pythag-wpct is the only thing I assume you need an explanation for. If not, you probably couldn't find your way here anyway....
Burnett to New York?
The A.J. Burnett sweepstakes have already begun. Teammates, reporters, coaches, even GMs are are all starting to say that Burnett will opt out of his contract and join another team. It makes sense from Burnett's perspective. He is putting up great numbers, going 16-9 with a 4.58 ERA, and will likely reach twenty wins assuming he stays healthy. He could easily land a four or five...
Ryan Dempster and Bob Howry Aren't Intimidated by Unibrows
This past Monday, several Chicago Cubbies spent their off day at the All State Arena for WWE Monday Night Raw. After getting a chance to visit backstage, the man with the filthy slider[slash]horribly annoying glove fidget and reliever Bob Howry stopped by the new Intercontinental Champion's home, better known as Santino's Casa.
If you're unfamiliar with Santino Marella...
