According to foxsports.com's trade deadline buzz page, the Marlins have improved their offer (to Ryan Tucker plus another prospect) to Washington for Nick Johnson, and the Tigers are looking to further supplement their team by adding Luke Scott's bat. The Rangers were apparently seeking a right-handed bat earlier this week and have not been heavily linked with either LHB. At this point, their efforts appear to be focused on adding a starting pitcher (though one would think that Derek Holland appears to be a bit less of a problem spot after his best start in the majors last night). The same page continues to report that Texas' pursuit of Roy Halladay appears to be close to dead, with the latest update coming just over 30 minutes ago. I'm not so sure. If you are J.P. Ricciardi, why not spend most of the day demanding Holland before backing off and accepting a package with Neftali Feliz - who is little or no downgrade from Holland - this afternoon?
