As shocking as this may sound, reports are coming out of Florida that the New York Yankees do not plan on extending an offer to Alex Rodriguez to keep him in the pin stripes.
While the Yankees say they do not plan on extending his current contract, which would keep him in the Bronx for four more years, A-Rod has the right to opt out after this season, a clause Yankees...

The Yankees have voiced public consideration to send Kei Igawa, their recently signed acquisition from the Hanshin Tigers, to the minors before he even plays a game.
The Yankees paid $46 million over five years for this guy. Sheer lunacy. This makes Ted Lilly seem like a bargain.

I praised Brian Cashman throughout the off-season for all the moves he made. I was, and still am, among those who liked the trades of Gary Sheffield, Randy Johnson and Jaret Wright -- each of which brought back young pitching talent.
I was even OK with the signing of Kei Igawa. Right now, however, things aren't working out quite the way Cashman had planned.
