Odalis Perez Traded to the Royals
Just as I was about to respond to BuntCake's article suggesting the Dodgers trade disgruntled and ineffective SP/RP Odalis Perez, a report from rotoworld says LA did just that. It appears the Royals acquired LHP Odalis Perez, RHP Blake Johnson, RHP Julio Pimentel and cash considerations for for Elmer Dessens. In exchange for picking up a good chunk Odalis Perez' salary ($8,750,000 in 2006), the royals also get two young pitchers in the deal. Odalis had a 6.83 ERA on the year, but had been feuding with the Dodgers organization all year. In KC, he gets a fresh start and will likely be moved back to the rotation. Dessens is far from great, but a better option than Perez. He is in the first year of a 2-year, 3.4 million dollar deal and has 4.5 ERA this year.
