Given the knocks on Milledge's character, attitude - and let's face it - talent, Mets fans must be thrilled to learn that L Millz is still worth a Buehrle on the trade market - even if it's potentially just a rental. Buehrle's had an up and down year, the high point of which was the no-hitter he spun on April 18th against the Texas Rangers. He is 4-3 with a 3.45 ERA. Given what the Mets have gotten out of their starters lately, I imagine they'd be thrilled to bring a guy like Buehrle to the NL East.

Buehrle is a solid pitcher, but unless the Mets are hoping to sign him after the season, I'm not sure he's worth it. He's not a good enough rental. I don't think he's a difference maker at this point in his career.

Why do the Mets want to deal Milledge so bad?

Its not that they want to deal him so bad, it's that he's the most dealable prospect they have, that's how stocked they are at OF.

Just dont think this will happen. How do you get rid of Buehrle?

Apparently he wants a five-year deal and Kenny Williams has said he'll never go for it.

It sounds like Buehrle will definitely be dealt. It's just a matter of where and for what. I've only watched the guy pitch a handful of times, so I won't claim to be an expert...but at 28, with a no-hitter on the resume, and the prospect of moving from the AL to the NL - I'd have to think this guy can be a productive National League pitcher for the next 5 years.
  • I don't know about this trade Milledge is a young guy who has alot of potential and besides Beltran the Mets need to think obout putting him in the outfield. Buehrle on the other hand is like in his mid-thirties and never really has a very good record and his ERA is always above four or a little under, plus not many strikeouts. To me this would not be a good deal for the mets. The Mets rotation has to many old guys already, Tom Glavine and Pedro and then adding Buehrle. Besides John Maine the Mets need some young talented pitchers. Trade Milledge for a good young pitcher.
