Found August 05, 2008 on Lansdowne 9:
While observing the 9th inning of last night's game against the Royals, I noticed something with David Ortiz' swing. The first pitch Ortiz saw in that at bat he looked like he was trying to smash the hell out of the ball, only 3/4 of the way through his swing it almost looked like he was trying to hold up. I didn't think anything of it, but later on it happened again when Ortiz fouled off another Joakim Soria pitch. It all came together this morning while listening to Felger & Bradford discuss the apparent injury on WEEI. Further more, Tony Massarotti reported the injury earlier this morning in the Herald. Ortiz says he felt a "click" in the same injured wrist from earlier this season, leaving Red Sox Nation very concerned. "My last at-bat, it kind of pulled back a little bit………you feel that click and you get a little concerned about it." [...]

No Way That Just Happened!

Last night at Safeco Field, the Twins took a 6-1 advantage into the bottom of the 7th behind a strong performance from southpaw Glen Perkins. Minnesota had drawn eight walks, picked up a pair of RBI from Mike Lamb and even saw little Nickie Punto go yard a day after Denard Span had done [...]

David Ortiz feels "click" in Wrist

Boston DH David Ortiz, recently returned from two months of rehab for a torn tendon in his left wrist, said last night that he felt a "click" in his wrist. He said he didn't know if it would affect his play for tonight. Stay tuned.

Soria as a starter? Not everyone agrees

For most Royals fans, the question isn't whether Joakim Soria should become starting pitcher, it is when and how. He's got multiple plus pitches, good control and sound mechanics. I am in that majority and I think the Royals should use Soria as a reliever and spot starter this year ...

Mitch Maier kind of robs Jason Bay of a home run

A similar play happened earlier this year when Kevin Youklis hit a ball that Johnny Damon nearly caught. In that game, the ball spun on top of the wall before dropping down. Now last night, the newest Boston Red Sox Jason Bay hit a shot that the Royals Mitch Maier almost caught. Instead it rolled along the top of the wall before Russ Gload grabbed it and threw it in. What are the chances? VIDEO

Is Freddy Garcia the answer for Boston?

We mentioned in February that the Red Sox met with overweight and out-of-a-job pitcher Freddy Garcia. The time has finally come for Garcia to hold a work-out for interested teams. Boston has sent Allard Baird (head of the scouting department) to check things out. I personally doubt that Garcia will be able to contribute anything this season. He's just now getting back to pitching...

Funny video on Manny Ramirez and his new sizzling start in Los Angeles.

Embarrassment

Funny, isn't it? Dodger blue must make people do strange things. In the case of newest outfielder, Manny Ramirez, Dodger blue has made him turn singles into doubles, run out infield ground outs, and leave his cell phone inside the clubhouse. These were all things that the embattled future Hall of Famer hasn't done for five or six years while back in Boston, but now, Manny...

"Manny being Manny" excuse infuriating to mother of 13-year-old Long Island boy

MANHASSET, NY — Rebecca Leiftowitz has had just about enough of her son Emmanuel “Manny” Leiftowitz’s antics, and his excuses are starting to wear thin as well. “Emmanuel is such a sweet boy,” Rebecca told SSNN. “But for the last year or so, every time he doesn’t do something, or misbehaves in any fashion – which [...]
