TEAMS: Baltimore Orioles, New York Mets
According to two baseball sources, Huff, who is having a resurgent season, passed through revocable "trade" waivers and can be dealt until midnight Aug.31 and still be eligible for a contender's postseason roster.
In addition, one source confirmed that a trio of Orioles veterans - outfielder Jay Payton, first baseman Kevin Millar and reliever Jamie Walker - also passed through waivers and could be traded this month.
Despite hitting .301 with 25 homers, 79 RBIs and a .553 slugging percentage, Huff presumably passed through waivers because any claiming team would be responsible for paying more than $10million remaining on his contract, including $8million in 2009.
I can't the Mets making a push for Huff, but I can see them get Millar to sure up the bench..and also spell Delgado against lefties. Plus, Millar has won before and he is a leader on any team...

Aubrey Huff can come to YOUR horsesh*t town
Hi. I'm Aubrey Huff of the Baltimore Orioles. And I'd like to get to know your horseshit town.
You may remember me as the guy who went on a z-list satellite shock jock's show last year and, while drunkenly painting a porn star's bare arse, called Baltimore a horseshit city. Well, a lot's changed since [...]
Parnell started strong but faded in the end.....
The Mets second best pitching prospect is trying to dispel the label of reliever. Robert Parnell has been projected as a top reliever but the pitching prospect has been starting since selected by the Mets in 2005. His first year wasn't very note worthy in 2006 but in 2007 he started 29 games going 8-8 with a 4.19 ERA between FSL and Binghamton. This year he started 24 games for...
Church and Wagner coming along...., Wagner sooner - Church Later!
Church Factor:
The seemingly endless Ryan Church Ryan Church saga took a positive turn yesterday when he made his first game appearance of any kind in nearly six weeks.
Serving as the designated hitter, Church went 1-for-3 with an RBI single against the Cardinals' Gulf Coast League affiliate in Florida. He will play DH again today if he shows no symptoms of the post...

Pelfrey under the microscope
In the eighth inning of last night's game, my e-mail inbox started filling up with messages from from Mets fans. Friends and fans asked, "Why did Manuel pull Pelfrey? He's only thrown 98 pitches. The bullpen is going to blow this … again … blah, blah, blah …"
Stokes saves bullpen, then game
Brian Stokes may be in the spotlight, but the Mets bullpen reaped the benefits on Wednesday night's 12-0 win.
inGame: Mets 9, Nationals 3
The New York Mets (65-56) completed a three-game sweep of the Washington Nationals (44-78) with a 9-3 win on Thursday.
Matusz, Beckham Close In On Deals
The Baltimore Sun reports that the Orioles are closing in on first round draft pick Brian Matusz. Matusz is in Baltimore to take his physical today, and if that goes well, his deal should be finalized by tonight or Friday morning. Matusz is the top pitcher in the draft and is expected to rise fast in the organization. He mixes his hard fastball with a great changeup, and an even...
Pedro: 'I haven't pitched enough for these people'
Pedro Martinez, the alleged offender, has pled guilty. The charge: underperformance.
In Gordon Edes Yahoo! Sports baseball column Thursday, Martinez said, "I haven't pitched enough for these people. I don't know if I'm going to end up doing what I'm supposed to do, like I did in Boston in the last year."
Bizarro Bullpen
Over at Metsblog, the always-entertaining Joe Janish (also of Mets Today) wrote a brief but interesting opinion piece about how the Mets' bullpen woes could be largely resolved by using the staff "in reverse." It was written in response to Jerry Manuel's claims of "anything goes" regarding his bullpen, and is mostly done in jest, [...]
Game 124: Orioles at Tigers
PREGAME: I'm heading down for my first back to back games this season. I saw Nate pitch bad last night, and I already saw Justin Verlander pitch poorly this week, so I'mdue for some decent baseball right?
It will be Dennis Sarfate who will try to stymie the Tigers for 7 or 8 innings [...]SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Game 124: Orioles at Tigers", url: "http...
Vidro a free agent, would he make sense for the Mets.....
On August 5 the Mariners placed Jose Vidro on outright waivers ( not trade waivers) meaning they had 10 days to trade him or grant his release. After being unsuccessful in trade attempts Seattle has granted him his outright release. The Mariners are now on the hook for his 8.5mil. salary while another team can sign him at league minimum without it costing any prospects. Back when...
