It's been said that his last contract was specifically based on his production against the Mets. Approximately 20% of his HRs and RBIs have come against the Mets. Burrell is a free agent at the end of the year and the Phillies are said to only be willing to go three years, some have suggested that we out bid the Phillies to get his bat out of the their line-up. Metsblog reported a incident with a Mets fan and Burrell this off-season in which Burrell sounded interested in coming to Citi Field. Looked like another nondescript loss for the Pirates shortly after this one got under way.
