Personally, I can't imagine going to a Pearl Jam show on the night of a Phillies World Series game. But, everyone has their own set of priorities, and Eddie Vedder & Co. are in town to close down the Spectrum in style. They're also known to be baseball enthusiasts, and we've been getting reports that they've dedicated songs to Shane Victorino, Brad Lidge, and Raul Ibanez, the latter being a friend from his days playing in the grunge capital.

Perhaps the coolest thing they've done though, is provide regular score updates, with a showgirl-appareled woman carrying ring cards and Vedder announcing how the runs were scored.

Plus. One. Pearl. Jam. A bonus video after the jump.

Thanks to Ben Onorato for sending us the tips and a video of the Raul dedication and subsequent RAUUUUUUL... Working on getting that uploaded now.

Brad Lidge Will Get The Save, Find The Lost Ark

Brad Lidge has a bone to pick with the Catholics, but first he has a coveted piece of jewelery to obtain. That would be another World Series ring, the first step toward that beginning tonight (7:57 PM ET, Fox. I’ll bring the guacamole). Lidge, however, will not stop there. When the Series is over, he’ll [...]

Game of Inches

Raul Ibanez doubles down the leftfield line with two out in the top of the second, the first hit of the game. The ball landed on the outside half of the foul line and bounced into the stands. It wasn’t a great swing, but it worked. Matt Stairs then goes the other way and [...]

Brad Lidge Wants to Put You Behind The Wheel of a Japanese Car

Sure, you could buy a Nissan and get a Brad Lidge-autographed baseball, but is it worth the risk? The car would run perfectly well for a full year and then immediately explode in flames once the one-year warranty ended. Victorino's at-bat a real Shane

The Phillies had Andy Pettitte and the Yankees in serious trouble in the second inning. Two runs were in and there was only one out. The bases were full. Then Shane Victorino let the Bombers' lefthander off the hook.

Easy Enough

During the World Series player introductions Wednesday night, I wanted to figuratively shoot everybody (figuratively, of course, because I'm not nearly as violent as my baseball tendencies of late would indicate). By the ninth inning, though, I had consolidated my hatred. This wasn't hard. This was sort of easy. These were the Not The Yankees in Phillies uniforms, and...

World Series Prediction: Phillies in 6

Here's the reasoning:1. The Phillies are defending champions. That means something.2. The Yankees are an excellent team, but so are the Phillies.3. Yes, I'd rather have Mariano Rivera over Brad Lidge, but a) I'm not so sure about the rest of the Yankees' bullpen and b) Lidge has looked better of late. In other words, I don't think that the difference between...

Phillies Strike First, Yankees Bounce Back

The Philadelphia Phillies were able to strike first in Game 3 of the 2009 WOrld Series. In the bottom of the second inning, Jayson Werth hit a homer, Jimmy Rollins had a bases loaded walk and Shane Victorino had a sacrifice fly. The New York Yankees could have easily folded but instead they battled back. Alex Rodriguez, who had been struggling during the World Series, hit a two run...

WS Coverage: Philadelphia’s Lineup Construction

Here’s how the Philadelphia Phillies lineup card read for the opening game of the World Series last night. 1.Jimmy Rollins, SS 2.Shane Victorino, CF 3.Chase Utley, 2B 4.Ryan Howard, 1B 5.Jayson Werth, RF 6.Raul Ibanez, DH 7.Ben Francisco, LF 8.Pedro Feliz, 3B 9.Carlos Ruiz, CA It’s possible that nothing here jumps off the page. Rollins and Victorino are typical 1 / 2 hitters; [...]

World Series Game 1 Recap: Phillies 6, Yankees 1

What happened? Cliff Lee dominated the Yankees over nine innings to lead the Phillies to a 1-0 lead in the World Series. Who did what? Cliff Lee (W, 1-0) allowed one unearned run on six hits in nine innings while striking out ten. Jimmy Rollins went 1 for 4 with a run and a stolen base (1). Shane Victorino went [...]
