And Pete Rose knows something about screwing people !! Pete would bet A-Rod wishes he had gone to Boston; less pressure and we know it is like krytonite to A-Rod.
This is interesting, Alex Rodriguez and Pete Rose are very good friends according to ESPN. Well actually, it's not THAT interesting because you would expect two great hitters to eventually meet and hit it off, regardless of if one of them is banned from baseball for life.
The interesting part is that Pete Rose told A-Rod through a series of text messages that he should sign with Boston.
Pete Rose: Got five reasons why you should go to Boston.
Alex Rodriguez: Name em
Pete Rose: 1. You'll win. 2. You can play shortstop until Mike Lowell leaves, and you love shortstop. 3. You'll hit behind Manny and in front of Big Papi. 4. You'll hit 800 home runs with that short porch. 5. The Red Sox fans will love you because you told New York to go screw itself.

Haha, only less pressure because they've won 2 WS in 5 yrs.

Where would we put the great Julio Lugo if we had A-Rod?

Other Rules That Hank Would Like To See Changed
Cinnamon Wang hurts himself on a non-contact trip around the bases and now Hank comes out and practically demands the National League change their rules to prevent American League pitchers from getting hurt. Why stop there Hank? Why not just amend every rule as you see fit? Here I've thrown together some goodies for you to bring up to Bud Selig that should help the Yankees this season.
State of Major League Baseball - 2008
What happens when you get 30 media heavies together for a roundtable? Ask a few that came... Ken Rosenthal, Jerry Crasnick, Chuck Armstrong, King Kaufman, Tim Marchman, Ken Davidoff, Dayn Perry, Peter Abraham, Andrew Zimbalist... etc.... etc.
Return of the Ice Cream
Mike Mussina made a deal with Joe Girardi that if he got 10 wins the ice cream could return to the clubhouse. Moose won that 10th game when he was on the road and now that the Yankees are back home he can enjoy. Once he reaches 12 wins the doughnuts return and at 15 the candy comes back.
Violent Swings Lead to Stiff Backs - The COLONial Times
This was Bartolo Colon's big time to shine, a time to show the world what he can do at the plate, an opportunity to transfer his 245lbs frame(that's what he's listed as?I'll take the over) into a home run hitting machine. At least that's what Colon was out to try to do last night but failed miserably. Maybe he was trying to make up for his lackluster performance...
Daisuke Matsuzaka completes his rehab assignment
Daisuke started for the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox yesterday in his first ever minor league game. He went 5 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and 1 walk. Dice-K was put on the DL May 30th (retroactive to May 28th) with a mild right rotator cuff strain. He is scheduled to pitch for Boston against the St. Louis Cardinals this Saturday.
When Is It OK To Boo?
Growing up my dad always told me not to boo. "We're not a booing family" he would tell me, and I have, for the most part, stuck to that. I think it's unfair to boo and overly heckle a player who is struggling. I would really hate it if I was having a bad day or week and someone came to my desk and started booing me. It certainly wouldn't help me pick myself...
Jacoby Ellsbury sets the Red Sox rookie record for SB in a season
Saturday's game started off with Ellsbury singling, going to second on a wild pitch, stealing third and scoring on a wild throw to third. Sunday's game started off with Ellsbury singling, stealing second, stealing third and then scoring on a sac-fly.
That first stolen base in today's game gave him the record for most stolen bases by a Red Sox rookie (32) in a season...

Jacoby freaking Ellsbury
I haven't been keeping up as much with the Sox during the NBA Playoffs, but I do have to congratulate Jacoby Ellsbury on breaking the Red Sox rookie stolen base record. Right now he's at 33. 72 games into the season, so he could theoretically be in the middle of a 70 steal season. He's hitting .289 going into today. He's flashed a little pop in the bat from time to...
New York Comedy Festival
With no Tribe game to discuss, I thought it would be an opportune time to open a forum regarding two specific things that occurred yesterday; both making me shake my head in disbelief during more than one occasion.
First, I find it absolutely hysterical (and a bit sad, actually) that there is a sudden outcry against interleague baseball because the ace starting pitcher of the...
Howard powers Phillies over Red Sox
Ryan Howard was the story in tonight's win, hitting a pair of homers and a triple to lead the Phillies over the Red Sox, 8-2.
3 Up
1. Howard's big night Ryan Howard went 3 for 5, driving in 4 runs and scoring twice. He hit two homers, which was enough to make it a special night, but he also added a rare triple. It was Howard's second triple of the season. He also...
Sometimes an AL Pitcher should just stand there...
Bartolo Colon tweaked his back taking hacks against Cole Hammels last night and may miss his next start... with two men on base both times, he had to swing, but you have to wonder if it's better to take the K you're gonna get anyway and not get hurt...

Morgan Ensberg, Joining the Farm
With all of this talk regarding the Indians and the potential to be the future owners of former members of the New York Yankees, I present to you the ironically-timed announcement from the Indians Media Relations department:
The Cleveland Indians announced they have signed 3B MORGAN ENSBERG to a minor league contract and assigned him to the AAA Buffalo Bisons. Ensberg, 32, played...
