If Sheffield can keep his ego under control and be okay with part time play, I think he would be a great addition to the Phils team. The Phils would have little to lose money wise and Sheffield might be surprised of how many meaningful at bats he would get. Having threats like Stairs, Dobbs and Sheffield for late inning pinch hitting roles would certainly make for some exciting moments. Go sign him Phils before Cincinnati jumps on it.

Eli's MLB Rumors:
The Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that the Phillies have some interest in now free agent outfielder Gary Sheffield. Releasing Geoff Jenkins opens up a spot on the roster, possibly for Miguel Cairo, but it could go to Gary Sheffield if he is willing to sign quickly and at the right price. Wily Mo Pena is another option for the Phillies, who was released by the Nationals last week. This story was approved by MLB Rumors.

The Reds and Sheffield
The news came out today that the Reds officially have interest in Gary Sheffield. Really? Sheff was a great talent in his prime, but it seems to me like he's another Griffey right now.
