At 25 y/o in 120 gms as a starter he hit .295 with a .368 Slg. pct. and a .338 OBP. Overall he is a lifetime .265 hitter with a .356 Slg pct. and a .314 OBP. Never a stellar defensive player, after initially starting his career as a 2B, he would eventually play seven different position over a 14 year career. The Mets know him all to well as their 2005 super utility player, Miguel Cairo.In 2005 he played in 100 games with a .251 BA, .324 SLg. Pct. and .296 OBP while playing six different positions. If anyone even suggested bringing Cairo back to play 1B even if he was younger the fall out would be unfathomable. But that's exactly what Mets far are suggesting by supporting the idea of bringing back Daniel Murphy as the full time starting 1B next year. It's true Murphy has projected to have better slugging numbers then Cairo but it's still not enough to be a starting National League 1B and in every other aspect of his game he falls short of being a starter.
