With the Yankees recent charge they are looking at their options available for upgrading the team. The most glaring need is in the bullpen where Kyle Farnsworth, Scott Proctor, and Brian Bruney have all been erratic at best. The new idea the organization has is to look to deal these relievers to upgrade the offense. They would then look to upgrade the bullpen from within by calling up Sean Henn and Chris Britton. The deal the Yankees are paying most attention to now would be for utility man Wilson Betemit. Last year they failed to get Betemit from the Atlanta Braves at the deadline and they are still interested in him now. The Dodgers have a need for bullpen help since Chad Billingsley has moved to the rotation. Though they apparently are not too impressed with what the Yankees are offering.

  • Only problem: Who wants any of these guys. Any of these guys would just be another mediocre pitcher for a bad bullpen if they go to a team that needs relievers. (I would like Farnsworth just because that guy is an animal when it comes to fighting. If anyone can find the video for him in just about any fight, especially Farnsworth vs. Paul Wilson, please post that or give me the link.)
  • You hit the nail on the head. Who wants these guys? Well I'd say there is a market for Proctor as he has flashes of good stuff and maybe somebody would want Farnsworth throwing 99mph for them, but the Yankees would have to pay his salary. Either way its not going to be easy getting value for either guy. Proctor and Bruney are relatively young and inexpensive.
  • I'm tired of the Farnsworth to Philly rumors I've been hearing since May, and Proctor keeps throwing batting practice lately. I can't wait until the Yanks next 4 game losing streak when they become true sellers.
  • Where would Betemit play for the Yankees?
Could be be our first baseman?

Hooters Girls, Superman - It's that time of the year

Heard about Chad Billingsley's Masquarade Party story, about dressing up like Robin Hood on one of their road trips. Well, it's time for our guys to break out their best dresses too. Each year we make the rookies dress up on one of the last road trips - last year there was a Hooters Girl, one year Superman. Jered Weaver had to dress up like a chick. He was hamming it up pretty...

Kinda like the night before

It wasn't exactly the same script as Monday night, but Tuesday's 10-5 win for Arizona over the Blue certainly had some similarities. There was the shaky first inning from an L.A. starter- on Monday Esteban Loaiza, yesterday Chad Billingsley, who... a<a href="http://feeds.latimes.com/~a/DodgersBlog...

Is Mo healthy? Struggles make you wonder

"The Yankees have, of course, completely restructured the bridge to Rivera with youngsters. Joba Chamberlain has been lights out since coming up from Scranton. Newly-recalled Sean Henn and Edwar Ramirez combined for four shutout innings yesterday, showing that they can contribute. Luis Vizcaino has been solid for the past two months. None of that is going to matter, though...

Clayton Kershaw Gets A Second Chance At The Bigs

Yeah, it was probably just a lucky guess, but Kershaw is getting called up as I predicted earlier. "Clayton Kershaw will be promoted to start Tuesday night's game against the Rockies, part of what could be a busy 10 days of Dodgers roster moves leading up to the Trade Deadline. This time, said Torre, he expects Kershaw to stay in the starting rotation, perhaps...
