Phillies Sign Pedro Feliz

In a move that won't impress many, the Phillies filled their hole at 3B with the former Giant Pedro Feliz.

Phillies to face Brewers in NLDS

The Philadelphia Phillies will host the Milwaukee Brewers in the first round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Playoffs. Despite the Phillies winning their second National League East division title in as many years, thereby ensuring their season would continue into October, their playoff opponents were as yet unknown by the start of Sunday's season finale. The New York Mets...

Does Feliz Deal Mean no more Pitching for Phillies?

I have been hearing mixed reports as to whether the signing of Pedro Feliz was good or bad for the Phillies. My post yesterday was mostly negative, as I pointed out that he is a poor hitter who makes too many outs. More importantly, does this signing mean that the Phillies are done signing players this off season? If that is the case, then I think they have failed to accomplish...

Pedro? We're Talking About Pedro?

The Phillies just signed Pedro Feliz from the Giants today to a two year deal. Last year Pedro hit 20 homers and had 72 rbi's. If Pedro can establish himself as a decent third baseman defensively than the Phillies 4-1 odds at winning the national league will pay off. Think about this: Our infield should supply our offense with over 100 homers this season, at least. Go Phils!

MLB: Phillies sign free-agent third baseman Pedro Feliz

The Philadelphia Phillies have signed free-agent third baseman Pedro Feliz to a two-year deal - pending a physical. The deal was reported by ESPN.com last night.

Marlins Acquire Wes Helms

According to an FSN broadcast via RotoWorld, the Marlins acquired Wes Helms from the Phils for cash.  So I guess that means the Fish were willing to take on the $2.9MM owed to him?  If so, quite a commitment for them. Helms, 32 in May, had his best year with the Marlins in '06.  H...

SP Player Profiles : The Lofty Ceilings of Lincecum, Gallardo and Co.

We all thought we'd have to wait a little longer to see Lincecum in the big leagues, but after he started 2007 in AAA going 4-0 while striking out 46 and allowing only one run in 31 innings, the Giants (and everyone else) realized he was ready. And ready he was. From May on, the little guy from Washington struck out more than a batter per inning, sporting a 3.39 post-break...

MLB: Catcher Lieberthal retires after 14 years

Former Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Mike Lieberthal announced his retirement yesterday after 14 years in the big leagues.

J-Roll wants to be the "greatest ever", 2008 SS rankings

not sure if you saw jimmy's comments about this upcoming season and how he has set his goals to be "one of the greatest ever." great to hear he's not hanging his hat on his MVP season. this blog post has some real good stats about his season last year, and also gives you REAL good ammo if your buddies from out of town still think Holliday should have won the MVP. Also...

Abraham Linkin - 4/14/08

A bold statement, starring Manny Ramirez (The Legend of Cecilio Guante) Wes Helms: less valuable than a $5 Saigon whore (UmpBump) Worth digging up: Sky Sports hotties (TheOffside) Pro Bowlers sure do love their diet cola (Kissing Suzy Kolber) They will juke you out of your undergarments (The Angry T)...

Destinations for Wes Helms

It’s looking more and more likely that Wes Helms days in a Philadelphia Phillies uniform are numbered. Helms has been on the trading block for a while now, even before the team signed Pedro Feliz to play third base for them. A trade is still possible but looking more like a long shot. [...]

Is It Time To Bench Pedro Feliz?

When Pedro Feliz was signed to a 2 year, 8.5 million dollar deal in the off-season I had my reservations about the whole thing. Basically, I looked at these things called 'facts' and wondered why the Phillies should be starting a guy with a ludicrously low on-base percentage (OBP). Here were my thoughts on the signing: So what do I think? I think he'll be a slight upgrade...

What To Do With Wes Helms?

In the 2006-07 offseason, Wes Helms had just finished his best year (in terms of rate stats, at least).  He hit .329/.390/.575 for the '06 Marlins, facing a disproportionate number of lefties.  David Bell and Abraham Nunez had combined for an OPS under .700 at the hot corner for the '06 Ph...

Spring Training Extravaganza (March 9. 2009)

As some of you know, I'm in Florida with my family for a few days taking in as much baseball as humanly possible (we started with a double header today!). This has been a tradition in my family for more than a decade and I am happy to report that this trip has been a blast so far. Posting will ...
