The Red Sox have a long history of blowing it when it comes to the playoffs. They had many chances to win the World Series through the long period of time. They broke the curse and won the World Series in 2004 which broke a lossing streak because they didn't win a World Series since 1918. My Question is in what World Series were they one strike away from winning it all but ended up lossing?

One of the greatest players in Red Sox history, Carl Yastrzemski, was admitted to the hospital today with chest pains. His spokesperson, Dick Gordon, had this to say when asked if the situation was serious: "Any time you are in the hospital, it's got to be pretty serious."

I've got a bit of (tongue-in-cheek) bad news for Red Sox fans. Julio Lugo swung a bat (and probably missed) for the first time yesterday since straining his left quadriceps on July 11th. MLB.com gives an estimated return date for Lugo as September 1st. That is the same day that rosters expand, so nobody will have to leave the club for Lugo to rejoin it. All of that is fine...
