Atlanta Braves - Healthy Mike Hampton, Healthy Mike Gonzalez, RH hitter off the bench, Hope that Andruw Jones’ defensive value was highly overstated
With their recent acquisition of Mr. Jamie Kotsay to patrol centerfield, the Atlanta starting lineup appears to be set. We can quibble with the t...
The Tao of Fred McGriff - Day 5
A job I've always enjoyed is planning. In college I did the advertising and promotional planning for my school's campus movie theater, and one of my responsibilities at my old job was media planning for a variety of the firm's clients (media planning refers to deciding where and when an ad will run). In my new job I'll be doing more of the same, which is fine by me...
Glavine To Likely Sign Tommorrow
"The Associated Press is reporting that Tom Glavine's agent, Greg Clifton, told reporters that "We've made significant progress throughout the day". The feeling around both the Atlanta Braves clubhouse and on Glavine's side is that the veteran left-hander will sign a 1-year contract worth $8M tomorro...

Glavine Notches 299
Last night Tom Glavine moved one step closer to the history books, winning his career 299th game as the Mets beat the Pirates 6-3. Paul Lo Duca helped Glavine's cause, going two-for-four with four RBIs. Glavine went six innings and allowed three runs before turning the game over to Aaron Heilman and Billy Wagner, who picked up his twenty-third save of the season.

Castro should return tonight....
Ramon Castro was sidelined at the end of August with a leg injury, it's the third year in a row that Castro has been on the disabled list late in the season. While his bat is very nice to have especially from a back-up catcher, I wonder moving forward if the injury risk is becoming more of a liability then his offense is an asset. His return wont effect the roster and now that...
Losing Some Pals Over Furcal
The biggest sports agent related news of last week had to be the battle of words between the executives of the Atlanta Braves vs. the agents at Wasserman Media Group. And it was all over Rafael Furcal.
At the beginning of last week, I remember reading a headline in one
paper that read something along the lines of the Braves signing Furcal,
but could not find any other source...
Manuel: NL Manager of the Year?
At Yahoo! Sports, columnist Tim Brown is ready to crown Jerry Manuel of the Mets, Manager of the Year.
Legit candidate? It's hard to argue against him. He's took over a team staggering to play .500 baseball and turned them into a winning team. The Mets are 48-28 under Manuel going into the weekend series against the Atlanta Braves.

With Cole Hamels (12-9, 3.12) on the mound, the pitching match-up favors the hometown nine this afternoon when the Phils and Brewers continue their series at Citizens Bank Park. First pitch is 3:55 ET, televised regionally on Fox. Summary: Operation: Salvage the Surly Season continues with Hamels looking to rebound from a poor start against the Mets on Sunday.
