Eli's MLB Rumors:
The Rays have claimed Tampa Bay's Chad Bradford from the Orioles for a player to be named later. Bradford is 3-3 with a 2.45 ERA in 40 innings of relief work. What makes him desirable is that he has pitched in 17 playoff games, pitched 15 1/3 innings for four different teams and has not given up a run.

For the betterment of mankind.
This afternoon, the Orioles gave Tampa Bay a really good late-innings relief pitcher. Chad Bradford, the submarining righthander who can pitch just about every night, was dealt to Tampa for a player to be named later. He passed through waivers because he's owed about $4.5 million through 2009.
Andy MacPhail told the Baltimore Sun "We just [...]
Name the Baltimore Orioles 1983 World Series Roster
They beat the Phillies 4 games to 1, and it's been all downhill since then. How many of the players from the World Series roster can you name?
Futures Watch: Week 19
Tampa Bay, 8:1 (BetUS)+120 to win the AL East (BetUS)Current Record: 68-45PECOTA Playoff Odds: 91.8%The Rays have been fantastic since the break, winning 13 of 19 and seven of their last eight. Most of that success has come at home, but it also includes a 4-3 road trip. They're not yet back to where they were on July 8 (96.5%), but they've really improved their chances...
Counting Down To 70…. 67
On Tuesday night, our Devil Rays returned to their winning ways, pinning down their 67th win 50 days sooner than any other D-Rays squad in history. A nice cushion was provided by a big 2-run blast by Evan Longoria, who broke Jonny Gomes' Devil Rays rookie record with his 22nd homer of the season. [...]

Scott Van Pelt Is Curious About This Guy
Last night Chris Waters had the finest Major League debut for an O's pitcher since Bob Milacki 20 years ago, prompting Scott Van Pelt to sign off SportsCenter with something to the effect of:
"Orioles fans have got to be asking, 'Where's this guy been all year?'"
In case O's fans are actually asking that, the answer [...]
Why Can't Carl Crawford "Be Named Later?"
How come "players to be named later" are never great players? Always some minor league clownboot who will probably be busted down to Triple-A within weeks of the deal. Oh, how I wish the Rays would name Carl Crawford later. That would be something for the Orioles.
Brandon "No-No" Erbe Strikes again
For the third time this year, Brandon Erbe pitched 6 or more innings of no-hit ball (twice 6 innings, and once 7). However, this was the first time the Keys bullpen could hold up their end of the bargain and finish the no-hitter. The combined no-no was against the Salem Avalanche and led the Keys to a 5-0 win.
First no-hitter in the Carolina league since April of 2006...when...
Nothing to it, huh kid?
I'm sorry, who? Chris Waters?
Macon. Myrtle Beach. Greenville. Provo. Myrtle Beach again. Mississippi. Bowie. Norfolk. Bowie again. Norfolk again. And last night, Waters made his unlikely big-league debut for Baltimore against Anaheim.
All he did was throw a one-hit shutout for eight innings, handing the ball to Georgie "Uh-Oh" Sherrill to save it in the ninth. [...]
Counting Down To 70…. 69
Our Devil Rays came out victorious in game two of a season-long ten game road trip, to increase our season win total to 69, second-best in franchise history. The team was led again by El Gato Del Crimen Carlos Pena who homered and drove in a pair of runs. Thus, the counting down [...]
Counting Down To 70…. 68
On Wednesday afternoon, our Devil Rays finished off a 5-1 homestand with a little come-from-behind action. Trailing Cleveland by three going into the bottom of the 9th was child's play for the mighty men we call Devil Rays. Gabe "The Clutchest G" Gross tied the game up with a 2-run home run, and [...]

Gimme A Break!
Well the Tribe is giving thier fans a break today, after the twin disasters in Tampa on Tuesday and Wednesday.
There's no game tonight. Thank God!
Even better, there's a Browns' preseason game to view - something to take our minds further away from the Tribe.
What can you say about the last two games?.
It's clear the Tribe has no bullpen to work with...
Baseball Prospectus hates your team
If you believe the nerdlingers experts at Baseball Prospectus, the Angels and the Rays are insanely lucky.
According to something called the "pythagorean over-under," the Angels, by rights, should subtract nine wins from their total for the year. They're closer to a 62-win team (see Minnesota and the White Sox) than the 71-win squad that sits [...]
