Last night's game became an instant Red Sox classic. It started with Jon Lester being nothing short of dominating. He went 7 strong innings, giving up only a handful of hits and no runs. Dustin Pedroia got his first hit of the series by banging an RBI double off the wall in the 5th inning. Then there was the insane slider turned 4-seam fastball from Justin Masterson that almost pegged Jason Varitek in the face. In the 9th came the missed suicide squeeze bunt play that turned into a game of pickle between Angels runner Reggie Willits and Varitek. Varitek won, and when asked if he was worried whether Willits could have been safe, he quoted "Not with my speed." Oh yeah, don't forget about the walk-off base hit by rookie shortstop Jed Lowrie. Sure, I still want to punch TBS and FrankTV in the face; Boston Auto Auction commercials still make me want to buy a car from anybody else; and the start-times created by the MLB still make me want to bitchslap somebody in the front office. None of that really matters at the moment though. All the matters is that the Red Sox advance to the ALCS to take on their division rival Tampa Bay Rays. Bring it on.

  • Man.. I hope we can beat those Rays!! They scare me.. I was able to say that I wasn't, bcuz they didnt have playoff experience, but seeing as to how they have only lost one game so far...

Oh well.. Im just gonna continue to have faith in those Sox... and know that they will do anything to go back to the WS and continue to defend their tittle, and not let a 20 yr old roster beat them...

We have so much momentum, from ppl who say that we cant win without Manny, to Bay who just wants to get his first ring, and the Sox who just want to show the world that their win last yr was not a fluke...

  • Yeah I'm a little nervous about it too. I was nervous about the Angels series as well until I remembered that they're not a good team.
  • The Rays are tough. They wouldn't be in if they weren't but I think we can pull it off. I'll admit that I don't like Dice in game one. I don't know if Beckett is still hurt. Let's hope the Rays inexperience hinders them because there's no weak point on that team.

Dear Dr. Craig Morgan: Shut up.

It's been a long time since the whole Curt Schilling vs. the Boston Red Sox debacle. In case you don't remember what happened, here's a recap: Curt wanted surgery on Boston's dime, the club said no and told him to try rehab, that didn't go so well so he had the surgery anyway. Well that was all in the past and most people assumed it was just water under the bridge. Apparently Schilling...

Punching Our Ticket to the ALCS

That was playoff baseball tonight. Wow.Jon Lester, what can you say? He's been tremendous all year. He's done everything we've asked him to do and he gave us a shot to win tonight. The lead disappeared in the eighth, but not for long. This is just a great feeling to get a walk-off win in the ninth. Jed Lowrie, a rookie, gets the game-winning hit. As a fellow young guy, I'm...

Phenom Pitcher not worth the ‘Price’ of admission

Finally, a bone-crushing fantasy story. Something that will really effect managers going into 2009, and it doesn't involve injury. Fantasy CPR takes a look at the latest demotion of David Price of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Quick Hits: Price, Santana, De La Cruz, Paulino

Quick Hits:Rays top prospect David Price has been sent down to Triple-A Durham, the Tampa Bay Rays announced. Price pitched in five games last season, but the Rays want him to get into a good rhythm in Triple-A before calling him up. Sources say the Rays would like to add Price to the roster, but it would probably have to take an injury or an impressive showing at Triple-A to get...

Rays Make Right Choice for David Price

In all, the off season was as good as it gets for a young, developing team on a small budget. Those good feelings seemed tarnished a bit on Wednesday when the Rays announced that 23 year old phenom, David Price was sent to triple-A to begin the season. News of Price’s demotion was met with the typical criticism of the Rays trying to save money. While it would be naïve...

ALDS Game 4: Tonight Lester proves he's the ace

Let's keep it simple here people: Jon Lester is 11-1 at Fenway with a .249 ERA. John Lackey is 2-4 in 8 starts at the Fens with a 6.34 ERA. Both guys pitched very well in Game 1. Lackey's one mistake to Jason Bay proved to be the difference. I'm hoping for a few more mistakes tonight. If you're... Click the link to read more...

I'm on no sleep... NO SLEEP!

Have you ever fought off sleep for so long that your body eventually assumes that it's not going to get it's daily reboot, so it just goes back to keeping you awake? That was me somewhere around the 7th inning last night. Josh Beckett's continued communication problems with Tek had last night's... Click the link to read more...

Angels commit suicide; Red Sox win ALDS!

So much to say... so little time. So I'm just gonna make a list of awesomeness from last night's game. 1. Jon Lester. That's it. He's awesome. 14 innings, 0.00 ERA, 11 Ks. John Lackey fought him tooth and nail in both games, but Lester never gave in. He got the leadoff man out every single time... Click the link to read more...
