PLAYERS: Rick Ankiel

Rick Ankiel kisses the wall at Busch Stadium after making a great catch. It looks bad but Ankiel was OK. The man has through a lot in his career, it was real good to first, see him go after the ball so hard, and second, to hear that he would be fine.

Video: Rick Ankiel Stumbles Face First Into Outfield Wall

A scary moment took place last night during the Phillies decisive win in St. Louis when centerfielder Rick Ankiel ran down a fly ball before stumbling into the outfield wall. It was a eye-coverer.Initial reports from the stadium seemed positive: Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said that Ankiel had movement and feeling in his arms and legs, and...

Face-Plant Video: Rick Ankiel Goes Head-First into Outfield Wall

Hey everybody…I think Rick Ankiel is going to be okay after smashing his face into the wall.  Yeah, I know it looked bad, but they did X-rays and everything, and didn’t find any fractures, plus he had feeling in all his limbs and was totally conscious throughout the whole thing.  So that makes it okay [...]

Rick Ankiel Gets Runs into The Wall

Rick Ankiel has had an amazing story, from being a star pitcher to losing all control over his arm and finally returning the majors as a power slugger and a pretty damn good center fielder. Yesterday Rick Ankiel made headlines for another great play in the outfield, too bad the chances are he will not remember this high impact collision with the wall.

Rick Ankiel just about killed himself last night

Rick Ankiel is a long way from the pitcher he used to be. Pitchers don't go crashing full-bore into the outfield wall with their heads. Good lord, he hit that wall hard. Nice of the umps to give him the mercy out on the call too, even though he dropped the ball. X-Rays and CT scan taken of his head, neck and back revealed no breaks or fractures, though he was kept overnight for observation. Phew.

RICK ANKIEL DOES HIGH-SPEED GUS FREROTTE

The Fightins found video of Cardinals outfielder Rick Ankiel’s collision with the outfield wall in Busch Stadium last night. And somehow this was ruled an out, which is good to know because the announcers in the game spent 10 minutes arguing over that possible ruling while Ankiel might have been dying on the warning [...]

Rick Ankiel Gets "Jacked Up" By The Outfield Wall

The good news is that all of Rick Ankiel x-rays came back negative and he has full movement in his legs and arms. The bad news is that you know he is hurting this morning. Running head first into an outfield wall is definitely worse than a lot of the "jacked up" collisions we talk about during the football season. If you have never been on a Major League Baseball field you have...

Happy to see the Cards?

Did you ever actually think you'd be happy to see the St. Louis Cardinals? The team that's owned us for the better part of the past decade? Because right now, I'd be happy to see just about any baseball team other than the Brewers take the field opposite the Pirates. The Cardinals fall into that broad category, so bring it on, St. Louis. Zach Duke gets the ball in hopes of stopping...
