DENVER, CO — The National League champion Colorado Rockies continued their red-hot ways on Tuesday, extending their winning streak to 12 games, and winning 23 of their last 24 as they took both ends of a double-header against the Boys and Girls Club of Aurora, located in suburban Denver, Colorado. Rockies manager Clint Hurdle decided to schedule the affair after the Rockies swept the Arizona Diamondbacks in four straight games in the National League Championship Series. (SATIRE)

Top Five Stories For 2009--Arizona Diamondbacks

A look at the top five stories for 2009 for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Colorado Rockies continue to amaze

The Counselor is IN: In the middle of last month, most experts had written off the Rockies. They appeared to be too far out to make the playoffs. They started winning, winning, and winning more. In fact they have now won 21 of their last 22 games. They barely snuck into the playoffs. They swept the Phillies and the Diamondbacks. They are waiting on the Indians and...

Contract Law: Meet Rich Rodriguez

Apologies to those who are just a few weeks removed from their contract law final. Feel free to stop reading now. By now you probably know that West Virginia University's Board of Governors is suing former football coach Rich Rodriguez (inset) in order to collect a $4 million buyout of his contract with the school. The lawsuit, filed in Monongalia County Circuit Court, says...

AND THE YANKEES WIN!!!!! AGAIN!!!!!

The New York Yankees defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks. With that win, the Yanks have won eight straight games. All of a sudden our bats have come alive over those games. A-Rod has 25 hrs, and 66 rbis leads the MLB. Also Bobby Abreu has an 8 game hitting streak. Now is the time when all the "baseball experts" jump on the Yankee bandwagon. Every single baseball expert has...

So Close

In the absence of pitcher Woody Williams, Darrell May had stepped up very well in previous starts. He was looking to fight Tim Stauffer for a spot on the starting rotation, but last night against the Arizona Diamondbacks May gave up six runs and eight hits in just 4 1/3 innings that he pitched. With ...

MLB month down: BoSox, Cubs, D-Backs look good

By Beltway Boss BaseballBigMouth.com baseball news    In the early going, as we near the end of April, several MLB teams have yet to distinguish themselves. With an eighth of the baseball season in the books, three teams, however - the Arizona Diamondbacks, who I wrote about last time and the re...

Focus on the microphone

So the big news today? Ross Porter is one of the possibilities for the new Arizona Diamondbacks broadcaster spot. Maybe I'm weird, but I'm actually kind of excited about the change. Porter has plenty of experience, having done the broadcasting for the Dodgers for 28 years, and it'll be nice to hear a...

D-backs Preview: Starting Rotation

With the best rotation in baseball, starting pitching is the one area where the D-backs know what to expect this year. And quite a value, fitting for these lean economic times.? The D-backs entire superstar rotation will be making a total of 31.1 million, well less than half the 18.5 million the Giants will be paying [...]

Rockies Benefit from Latin Scouting

The Colorado Rockies' run to the World Series (and the Cleveland Indians as well if they make it) was built the way most pennant-winning clubs are built, through good scouting and player development, creating a core of homegrown players who contribute or even star in the big leagues while earning far less than they are worth on the open market. It seems to me that both teams...

Dbacks: A Season In Review

I have purposefully avoiding writing about the Diamondbacks season ending a few days ago so I could step back and take a rational look at the entire season, not just a knee-jerk reaction to one series. Yeah, the way the season ended hurt. The Dbacks played bad and batted worse. The Rockies were a runaway freight train, and unfortunately the Dbacks couldn't stop them. Here'...
