TEAMS: Kansas City Royals, St. Louis Cardinals, Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals, Atlanta Braves
Zack Greinke pulled ahead in the Cy Young race, going 8 innings and striking out 15. He's only 12-8, but we all know W-L record is a pile of crap anyway.Adam Wainwright and Wandy Rodriguez had an epic duel last night, Wainwright did not allow a run through 8 innings, and Wandy allowed the only run of the night in 7 innings. Not a bad game to watch if you are a fan of either of those teams. You know how I know that the Cubs are not making the playoffs? Carlos Zambrano was out pitched by Garrett Mock as the Nationals clobbered the Cubs 15-6.Rafael Soriano struck out all three batters he faced last night. He's good. Remember when the Mariners traded him for Horacio Ramirez? I sure do, and it haunts me every night. Screw you, Bill Bavasi.

Just Give Greinke the Cy Young Now
On the heels of last night's stellar 15 strikeout performance (which wasn't even his best performance of the season), it's time for the newspaper-writin' voters to collude and ensure that Zack Greinke wins the AL Cy Young Award. Even if he spends September losing to the middling Twins and brooding and being all emo, this small market employee has shown mastery in...
The Zack is Back! Greinke sets Royals record without even trying
Actually, Zack Greinke(notes) never really went anywhere, but his team record 15-strikeout performance in a 6-2 win over the Indians on Tuesday was reminiscent of earlier this season, when the Royals pitcher dominated magazine covers and it seemed as if no batter could come close to touching his stuff. And just like those salad days in April and May, Greinke made it look effortless...
Greinke strikes out club records 15 as Royals beat Indians 6-2
As bad as it is Royals fans, there's still Zack Greinke. And that's still enough to turn an ordinary Tuesday night in this lost season into something extraordinary.
OMG 15 STRIKEOUTS !
Zack Greinke, AKA The Only Reason To Give The Kansas City Royals Time Of Day, went eight innings in his latest start last night, which is like “balls and a half deep” by today’s standards. Most guys go five innings and they start looking into the dugout like some 9-year-old that got lost in [...]
Putting the K in Greinke
Zack Greinke struck out 14 Indians through the first seven innings of tonight’s game. The Royals lead 4-1, Cleveland scoring their only run on an Andy Marte homer. Choo and Shoppach have struck out three times each. Zack has thrown 101 pitches, but if they leave him in and he strikes out [...]
Greinke strikes out team-record 15
Zack Greinke struck out a team-record 15 in eight overpowering innings and got some rare offensive support, helping the Kansas City Royals end a five-game losing streak with a 6-2 win over the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night.
Greinke-ganda
For today, let's forget that the defense playing behind Zack Greinke is the worst in the American League.
Let's forget about their 94 errors, or that their collective Ultimate Zone Rating (-42.1) is about 25 percent worse than the next-worst AL team, which means that even Greinke's league-leading ERA is unfairly inflated.
* If you'll pardon the imperfect analogy,...
Greinke on Royals career strikeout list
After striking out 15 Tuesday, Zack Greinke has one of the top-five season strikeout totals in Royals history and has a chance at Dennis Leonard’s team record.
Royals 6, Indians 2
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -Zack Greinke struck out a team-record 15 in eight overpowering innings and got some rare offensive support, helping the Kansas City Royals end a five-game losing streak with a 6-2 win over the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night.
Greinke: Strike Out Machine!
Not what the batter wants to see!As you probably know Zack Greinke set a Royals record for most strikeouts in a game Tuesday night (15). That beat the previous best this season (Hochevar, 13) and the previous best for a Royal (Gubicza, 14). It also tied the best this season in the majors (Tim Lincecum, S.F.) I figured I would throw a few lists at you to show you where Greinke...
Cleveland Indians (55-69) at Kansas City Royals (47-77), 8:10 p.m.
The Kansas City Royals used to be able to count on Zack Greinke to end losing streaks. Now that's even not the case anymore.
The Cy Young chase.
With just six weeks remaining in the regular season, the chase for the American League Cy Young award is starting to take shape.
As usual, Roy Halladay is one of the few who is up for consideration year after year.
This season, there are a few dark horse candidates who could pull an upset and win their first Cy Young award. But in my opinion, Doc is still the favorite to win his...
