Absolutely ridiculous proposed trade from Twins beat writer -- basically asking the Red Sox to give all of their stars under the age of 25 for Santana, Nathan and a player who's actually a free agent. Where do these people come from?

That turned out to be the case, though, when the Mets GM capped off the worst day in his career by being duped by the Minnesota Twins into trading Jose Reyes and Phillip Humber to the Twins for a 24-year-old Single-A pitcher named John Santana.

The Yankees are now willing to include Phil Hughes in a trade for Johan Santana.I guess I haven't been paying close enough attention, because I thought Hughes was already included. Can you blame me? All this media speculation was bound to confuse someone out there. Might as well be me.

Should the Yankees give up prized rookie Phil Hughes to get Johan Santana? It's no surprise to me if it is indeed the Yankees who crack and give Twins GM Bill Smith what he wants. The Red Sox already have Josh Beckett and have won two of the last four World Series. Santana would be nice, but Boston can win again next year without him. The Yankees need an ace to get back on top.

I have a marathon to run this Sunday, and then I am testing my poker skills at the MGM Grand through Thursday this week. Thus far my tournament finishes (with # of participants) are 3rd (60), 3rd (70), 75th (150), 17th (150). Unfortunately, the money I won in the first two tourneys only paid for my participation in the 3rd and 4th.This means I will not be blogging for a while...
