Another day and another starter struggles, I hope they get it all out of their systems in spring training otherwise we won't need our vaunted bullpen. It sure is quite a statement when the guy called inventory at the start of spring is now pitching like the second best starter on the team. Johan Santana looks brilliant and Livan Hernandez keeps chugging ( seemed like a fitting adjective) along but the rest of the rotation is all over the place. Just two starts ago Pelfrey looked like a 1A ace until he couldn't get out of the fifth yesterday. Maine has been bad all spring and all eyes will be on him tomorrow after a bullpen session on Monday revamped his mechanics. Then there is Ollie, Mr. Inconsistent is with us for three years; Bad Ollie in the WBC, good Ollie first game back and then today he was train wreck Ollie. He gave up six runs in 3 2/3 innings on five hits and six walks..Carlos Muniz continues to make his case, as he came in to stop the bleeding for Ollie and after...

Unhappy Recap: Braves 3 Mets 1

Johan Santana got his first introduction to being a Met in this game. You pitch great, you get no run support and the bullpen sucks. And even when you double to get yourself on third with one out the weak hitting second baseman can't hit the ball deep enough to drive you in. It is sickening that the...

Haren traded, Santana could be next

Now that Oakland has traded Dan Haren to Arizona, the Johan Santana chase just got more interesting. The loser(s) no longer have Haren as a backup plan. The only other No. 1 on the market is Erik Bedard and Baltimore probably isn’t going to trade him within the division. That should expedite th...
