Pat The Bat Burrell is playing like a man possessed by the ghost of Babe Ruth. Today he took acoustic rock god Bronson Arroyo deep twice, and has gone Yahtzee! 3 times on the season. Through 7 games, he's 10-23 for a .435 average with 4 runs scored, 3 doubles, the previously mentioned 3 longballs (Burrell loves that he has longballs, he's a mackdaddy that way), 9 rbi, 4 walks...

If you haven't heard; Bronson Arroyo can play the guitar. He also is a commercial star in the Cincinnati area as well. Arroyo starred in a commercial when he arrived in Cincy and just got done filming his second spot for an angus burger provider. Enjoy!

You heard it here. The Cincinnati Reds took giant strides to improve this year, just by signing Dusty Baker, and promoting Johnny Cueto to the big league level. This kid may just have the best young arm in MLB. Time will tell, but early indications show that this young righty, under the tutelage of Mario Soto, will continue to get better. Barring arm problems, I will predict...

David Weathers lost another game for the Reds last night and it is getting old. He almost blew Cueto's major legue debut last week, and again he pitched awfully last night. Cincy, please give up on this guy. He may be a nice guy, but he is a loser as a pitcher. Every year when the Brewers schedule comes out I always look to see when the Cincinnati Reds come to town. I can almost be guaranteed to see exciting ball games but more importantly I get a chance to see one of the greatest players of all-time: Ken Griffey Jr.

The New York Mets look like they may have begun to address the injury problems that are already striking their starting rotation. The team is on the verge of signing free-agent Claudio Vargas to a AAA minor league deal. After the Cubs series, I was happy with a series win. Going into the series with the Giants, anything less than a sweep would have been a disappointment. The Giants are in a state a flux and just not very good right now. If the Brewers Canning-Craft-Beer are going to be a playoff team, these are the type of things they need to do to attain that goal.

The Arizona Diamondbacks added some bullpen depth today making a minor trade with the Cincinnati Reds. In the deal, the Diamondbacks received left-handed reliever Jon Coutlangus, a player the Reds placed on waivers just a few days ago. Coutlangus did clear waivers and the surprising thing is that almost no team showed any interest him, not a good sign for a lefty.
