Another reason why we like Milton Bradley

Milton Bradley says he can play catcher if needed. when I asked Milton Bradley in spring training if he thought he would be playing any centerfield this year, he replied: “I can player wherever they want me to. I can play catcher.” Catcher? “LIttle League,” he said. “My first position. All-Star. It doesn’t matter.” That is awesome....

Why we like Milton Bradley

There’s nothing wrong with a little arrogance. That’s especially true for athletes. Most of them are arrogant and self-involved to begin with, so it’s a pleasant surprise when athletes don’t give the cookie cutter responses to questions they’ve been asked. Milton Bradley says what is on his mind. Bradley was asked about whether he should be taken...

Soto Out for First Two Games of Brewers Series

According to a report from the Chicago Tribune, Geovany Soto will miss at least the first two games of the Brewers series. The Tribune reported the Cubs "think shoulder pain is just minor inflammation" and he "is not going to be placed on the disabled list."

Soto's Shoulder an Issue Since Spring Training

Sure, that was just a week ago, but the point is Geovany Soto's shoulder issues aren't "new".Soto felt some discomfort when he threw to second in the third trying to get Houston's Kaz Matsui, who was safe....Soto said he had the same problem in Spring Training and doesn't expect to miss much time. Cubs catcher Geovany Soto had to leave the Cubs' game on Tuesday evening in the fifth inning after making a throw to second base. Soto Could Miss Time

According to multiple reports on Wednesday night, Geovany Soto will have his right shoulder examined in Chicago on Thursday by Dr. Stephen Gryzlo. Qualified Links–Baseball Heavy Edition

Geovany Soto will get his shoulder examined in Chicago on the Cubs day off today.  Last year’s ROY missed the game last night.  [Tribune] The San Francisco Giants have kicked off quite the ad campaign.  Haha, balls. [Deadspin] The White Sox only managed three hits last night as they got shut out by the Royals.  Zack Greinke [...]

Lilly vs. Astros

Ted Lilly in the rubber match tonight. Instead of Cubs vs. Moehler, here is Ted Lilly against the Astros offense. Starts with the standard sample size warning. No change-ups against these lefties.Nothing notable about the lack of curves against some righties. Lilly will go through phases where he barely uses the yellow hammer, so, in a small sample, a lot of guys will miss it....

Ted Lilly And The Tale Of An Absurd Market

GM Jim Hendry finally addressed the starting rotation by signing southpaw Ted Lilly to fill one of the Cubs' most glaring holes. Sounds good, right? A veteran pitcher who can eat innings as a second-tier starter, certainly costing no more than $5-6 million per year. Not quite. Instead, in ano...

Introducing David Patton

Cubs Rule 5 acquisition David Patton made his big league debut Wednesday in Houston. It is also the first dose of PITCHf/x we have on the four-year veteran of A-ball. Patton did pitch in Yankee Stadium, but there was no data for either of the Cubs exhibition games in the Bronx.Tomorrow I'll wrap-up the Cubs 2-1 series victory, taking a look at the rest of the pitching staff...
