Mighty Quinn Media Machine:
Yesterday, MLB Players Association chief Don Fehr announced he was stepping down from the position he's held since 1985.I want to take this opportunity to thank him for everything he's done. For driving players' salaries into another stratosphere. For making the average family have to take out a second mortgage to go see a game live in person. For stonewalling drug testing in baseball, for hiding the dirty players for years, for making the home run records a joke. For not getting rid of the 2003 drug testing survey when you should have. (I'm sure Alex Rodriguez, Sammy Sosa and 102 other players won't be sending you Christmas cards this year.)For making every clean player a laughingstock, and for every time a player challenges a record the words "I wonder if he's on the juice" is said. Thanks for operating a union without ethics or any moral compass. So long, and don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.

Is Sosa “Enhancing” His Arms? And Other Sammy News
In the wake of the Sammy Sosa steroid scandal, many people around the majors have been chiming in about what they think regarding this topic. Ryne Sandberg does not approve, and he had this to say:

Former Cub Sandberg says Sosa doesn’t belong in Hall of Fame
Former Cubs infielder Ryne Sandberg recently said on a Chicago radio show that Sammy Sosa shouldn’t be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame after the New York Times reported last week that he tested positive for PEDs in 2003.
Appearing on the “Waddle & Silvy” show on ESPN 1000, Sandberg was asked whether Sosa belongs [...]
Sosa and McGwire Get Laughed at Last
So here, potentially, is the ultimate — and fitting — commentary on the 1998 home run extravaganza that supposedly saved Major League Baseball from its self-inflicted collective bargaining wounds of four years earlier. The reporter who doused the Mark McGwire-Sammy Sosa celebration of strength with a long article that raised a short question — is it real? — has a chance to...
Sandberg: Sosa doesn't deserve Hall of Fame
Former Chicago Cubs star Ryne Sandberg says Sammy Sosa doesn't belong in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
"I don't think so," Sandberg told ESPN Radio 1000 in Chicago on Tuesday. "Part of being in the Hall of Fame, they use the word integrity in describing a Hall of Famer, in the logo of the Hall of Fame, and I think there are going to be quite a few players that...

After ace pitcher leaves game, Yankees bullpen falters in 6-3 loss to Marlins

Ryne Sandberg Joins Wade Boggs In The "Stay Out Of Our Club" Brigade
If you are currently in the Hall of Fame and anywhere near a microphone, please state your preference on whether "steroid era" players deserve plaques like yours. Ryne Sandberg is the latest to go on record with a "no." The Cub legend appeared on the "Waddle & Silvy" show on Radio DisneyESPN 1000 to talk sports, so of course, he was asked about his...
Following up on ARod and his “fatigue”
I don’t care if this was a party scheduled 14 years ago, or 14 days ago. I don’t care what the cause was, or which A-listers were present. This is why: Alex Rodriguez’s two days of rest was instigated by the front office, as
A-ROD BENCHED WITH BAD CASE OF KATE HUDSON?
I haven’t been following this A-Rod benching too closely (1) because it’s the Yankees, and I’d hate to cut into half of the teams that ESPN is already covering, and (2) because Alex Rodriguez is quickly approaching Favre-ian territory with his off-field antics. But, I get a bit more interested when he might be missing [...]
A-Rod plays, but it didn't matter much
And on the seventh day, A-Rod didn't rest. Not that it mattered much -- 1 for 4 with as many whiffs as RBI (two). For a player with Alex Rodriguez's resume, that's a line remarkable only in that it raised his batting average from .212 to .213. Maybe, to paraphrase boxing manager Joe Jacobs at a frigid World Series game, he shoulda stood in bed.
