Fantasy Sports Trades:
Last week, watching Reggie Willits bat against Scott Kazmir, I literally bit my tongue. I'd just flipped on the game; Kazmir was pitching well; Willits stepped to the plate. With two strikes, Reggie just kept fouling off good pitches. Fastballs, sliders, changes–he hit them over the fence behind home-plate.
And the Angels's announcers were ecstatic. Rex Hudler was smiling up in the booth. "What a great at-bat by Reggie! Oh, Reggie's having a great at-bat."
After about eleven pitches Willits ended up walking. And the great at-bat stuff started again.
I've always hated "good at-bats." If we're talking about a hitter who gets himself into a good count, then goes the other way for a hit, then I think the expression works. That is, in fact, a good at-bat. But if the hitter's just not very good, and all he can is go up there and try to work a walk, then, no, that's not a good at-bat. That's a bad at-bad. That's an at-bat that Billy Crystal, at sixty-five, could have six days out of seven.

Wilpons Are a Gutless Disgrace
How ironic. In a move to throw a bone to an angry fan base, Mets ownership paints the bull's eye squarely on their own classless and clueless faces. Most Important Ray?
Our own Kevin Gengler took part in a Rays blog 'round table' of sorts at Rays Anatomy. The question was which Ray is the most important to the team's future success; the answers included David Price (twice), Jake McGee, Carl Crawford, B.J. Upton, and Gengler's pick of Scott Kazmir, but my answer woul...
Marlins want what the Angels have...
By Chuck Richter - Senior Editor Angelswin.com
According to a Marlins source, Florida wants what the Angels have in a catcher (Jeff Mathis) who they're high on and a centerfielder (Reggie Willits). Even though he could still be a part of a packaged deal to Florida, it's worth noting that this source did not mention Howie Kendrick's name, but that they would be more interested...

Solution for All-Star Game Pitching Issues
Most of this comes from a comment I made when Sports Dawg wrote on An Opinion On Sports about expanding the All-Star rosters after Clint Hurdle and Terry Francona nearly had to use David Wright and J.D. Drew as pitchers due to a limited number of innings available from the All-Star pitchers.
Sports Dawg isn't the only one to make the suggestion as I've heard a lot of people...
Speechless.
Rays 10, Indians 7 (box)
Eric. Please. Please. Please. Just let Rafael Perez be your closer. Yes, the bullpen as a whole is God awful. Epic fail. I get that. But when you have yet another quality start by Jeremy Sowers (who was overmatched on paper against Scott Kazmir), you simply cannot allow your 'pen to blow this game. Yes, I know that Perez had already tossed...
