TEAMS: Pittsburgh Pirates, Milwaukee Brewers
To celebrate their mathematical elimination, the Bucs had today off (it was also Labor Day, or something). There are a few minor notes to point out, though:---It's September 1st, meaning the Pirates can add anyone on the 40-man roster to the ballclub for the rest of the year. No announcements have been made yet because Indianapolis had its last game today, but [Pirates.com] speculates as to who will join the team. Hansen and Beam will for sure, along with Steve Pearce and Brian Bixler. Ross Ohlendorf will probably be the only new guy we see, since neither Dan (who dominated today) nor Andrew McCutchen is part of the 40-man roster. Huntington says they will play over the winter and compete for jobs next spring. I'd love to get a look at them, but it's probably the right call. Paulino and/or Robinzon Diaz will also come up to add to the catching depth.---The Brewers are still whining about CC's 1-hitter. Amazingly, the only one being mature about it is CC himself (who is "just glad [...

CC Sabathia No-Hits the Pirates
So, I guess you're reading that and wondering why you haven't seen the highlights on ESPN yet or read all about it all across the internet.-The Bucs notched 1 "hit." But it wasn't really a hit. You see, Andy LaRoche hit a slow grounder to the pitcher. It went about 10 feet. Sabathia hustled over and was about to pick it up as Andy rushed toward first--the play would have been very...
GameDay #136 vs. Brewers
Brewers (79-56) at Pirates (57-78)1:35--PNC Park, PittsburghCC Sabathia (14-8, 2.95) vs. Jeff Karstens (2-3, 3.48)[Preview]--------------Amazingly, CC Sabathia's shortest outing as a Brewer came against......the Pirates last Sunday. The Bucs only scored 1 run off him in 6 innings, but they had a chance to win that game (but of course, didn't). CC has been lights out since coming...
The Pirates Have Been Mathematically Elimated
I'm not sure when this happened, but the standings at [Foxsports.com] have the "elimination number" and ours is at the egg. Must have happened within the last few days, because Cincy (who's just a game or so ahead of us) is not quite eliminated yet.-Obviously, this isn't coming as a big shock or anything. We knew we weren't going to the playoffs, oh, in late July, maybe even before...
Brewers lose Sheets then the game
Monday was not a good afternoon if you're a fan of the Milwaukee Brewers. Ben Sheets left the game after five innings due to tightness in his groin and the bullpen was unable to hold the lead and the Brewers lost a tough one to the Mets, 4-2. Sheets was on his way to pitching a gem before the injury sidelined him. He tossed five scoreless innings while only giving up two hits.
You May Want To Sit For This Onea??
While the Indians and fans alike are still reveling in the 20-win season of Cliff Lee, there is no denying that we're are always looking at the "what-ifs."
What if Dennis Northcutt caught that pass against the Steelers. What if we don't give up 30 yards on a third-and-long screen pass to the Raiders? What if LeBron makes that layup against the Celtics. And...
How room was made...call ups...
As expected the Mets recalled pitchers Ricardo Rincon, Carlos Muniz, Bobby Parnell, Jon Niese and Al Reyes, along with position players Ramon Martinez, Gustavo Molina and Argenis Reyes. They also decided to bring up pitcher Brandon Knight and activate Marlon Anderson from the DL. To make room for the players not already on the 40 man roster they moved Orlando Hernandez, Jason Vargas...
Pics From The Stadium
These were the pictures I took when I was at Saturday's Jays/Yankees games. I would have taken more but I realized when I got there that I didn't have a memory card, so I could only save 20 pictures. I deleted a lot as the game went along not knowing what pictures I might take as the

Niese not ready.....
I know when your 21 y/o with less then two years of professional ball experience, your nerves are going to get the best of you especially in your first major league game but Jon Niese clearly showed he's not ready. Niese only lasted three full innings and left in the fourth after allowing four runs to cross the plate without recording an out. I'll be honest, my expectations...
