Right now, the Orioles starting rotation is in serious flux. With the struggles of Guthrie, Eaton, Penn and whoever else you want to sent in this sentence (with the exception of Koji Uehara), the lack of viable arms who can perform consistently is causing a lot of consternation amongst fans and those on sports talk radio. Aside from Uehara, and the number one starter, Guthrie, everything else in the rotation is up in the air. I guess the team really needs to see what they in Hayden Penn (out of options) and whose career has been marred by bad luck and immaturity -- however, he may earn a starting rotation spot; Alfredo Simon, who has emerged as a hard-throwing option worth a look, and Adam Eaton along with Mark Hendrickson are the remaining candidates for the last three spots. Rich Hill, from the looks of it, will start the season on the disabled list. Whatever takes place, the pitching situation is probably the top story line going into April. Marlins Trade For Penn
The Marlins traded second baseman Robert Andino to the Orioles for pitcher Hayden Penn. Both Penn and Andino have long term upside, so it will be interesting to see how they adjust to the change. Both players were out minor league options, so it's safe to say that both Penn and Andino will make their respective Opening Day rosters. This story was approved by MLB Rumors.

Although the Orioles lost 2-1 to the Mets last night, they got a nice little surprise from Alfredo Simon, who started the game last night for Baltimore. I guess it is safe to assume -- at least from what I have seen -- that Simon will make the rotation, presumably as the fifth starter. Simon -- who is actively looking to make the rotation out of Spring Training -- was impressive...
