TEAMS: Minnesota Twins
With the World Series finishing up yesterday, the off-season officially got underway today with the first of fifteen days for players to file for free agency. On the sixteenth day, players will officially be able to sign with new teams, so that will be the next stop on our long journey ahead.
Thanks to La Velle, we know that 65 players filed for free agency today, including three Minnesota Twins:
Nick Punto Dennys Reyes Eddie GuardadoThere is a good chance that all three are done playing with the Twins for the foreseeable future. With Jose Mijares and Craig Breslow aboard, along with Reyes likely getting a fairly big contract, the two left-handed specialists could be gone. As for Punto, the Twins probably would like him back, but there will be a limit on his price with similar options (Tolbert, Harris, etc.) in the organization.
We'll continue to look at the team in the coming weeks, but the wait is on for Friday, November 14th, the first day of free agency.
