~That wasn't my seat but it certainly was the "best seat" in the house. Look at that beam wee. Who needs to see the plate? ~If you're going to a game at Citi Field my first advise would be not get the cheapest seats in the house. That is unless you actually like not being able to see any of the outfield. Below is essentially where I was seated and for the majority of the game I couldn't see the left fielder OR the center fielder, I could see both when Luis Castillo was up. I also couldn't see the apple in center field. If you're going to get cheap seats, spend the extra 10 bucks and get them promenade seats in fair territory. ~So what are my overall thoughts on the stadium. It's 1 billion times better than Shea. It's not even close. Sure there's the limited view seats, but everything about the ballpark feels and looks better. And it's not even close. ~That being said there are issues, and most of these issues come if you're a Mets f...

This Day in Mets History
Guess which one of these two events are more memorable for me:
1966—The Braves won their first game in Atlanta by beating the New York Mets 8-4.
1970—Tom Seaver of the Mets struck out the last 10 Padres he faced for a 2-1 victory over San Diego. He gave up two hits and finished with a total [...]
Zach Rosenbaum Helps A Small NY Town
On
April 15, I received an email from Phil McDonald asking for some help.
He wanted to know if Dynasty would help him out with an effort to bring
youth football back to a small town in upstate New York. They lost
youth football over 25 years ago and never had a youth cheerleading
program till this past year. They started both programs up this past
fall and are in the process...
Beltran's play, epitome of the problem...
If I had to sum up in one play, what's wrong with the New York Mets, it would be Carlos Beltran's play at the plate. No; I'm not one of those Beltran bashers, in fact, I think he's probably the best all-a-round player on the team.Unfortunately, for Beltran, that one play serves as a perfect example, on so many levels, how a team with the best pen in the league and...
Mets Want To Erase Doc Gooden
The Mets simply do not get it. After all the uproar in the media about how Citi Field seems more like a fitting tribute to the Brooklyn Dodgers as opposed to the New York Mets, the front office had an opportunity to alleviate some of those concerns and chose not to.
George Willis of the NY [...]
Thank You NY Post… Gooden’s Autograph Stays!
The NY Post is reporting that what began early yesterday morning after George Willis of the NY Post outed the Mets for insulting our beloved Doctor K, has ended in a complete about-face by the New York Mets.
It all started when George Willis’ column in yesterday’s Post reported that the Mets planned to erase Dwight [...]
Past success presents new challenge for Murphy
No one knows Daniel Murphy — the baseball player — better than Terry Alexander.
Alexander, starting his 19th season as manager of the Jacksonville University, schooled the Mets left fielder since he was 16 years old. He watched Murphy develop as a player, suggesting his work ethic was “borderline obsessive” and his “will to succeed” was exceptional.
So, when...
It's Time For The Brewers to Have a Catching Platoon
Brewers manager Ken Macha entered this season stating that Jason
Kendall would be the starting catcher, but Mike Rivera would get
regular work, catching every time Dave Bush would take the mound. It's
time for Macha to amend that declaration and make the catching
situation a full platoon position.
Jason Kendall has gotten off to a horribly slow start to the season
both...
Foul Poll: Gooden’s autograph
What should the Mets do with Dwight Gooden's autograph?
Monday Clicks: Bunts, HR’s and walk-offs
Ben Shpigel of the New York Times suggests the walk-off infield single by Luis Castillo Saturday is a direct result of his off-season weight loss. In fact, Shpigel writes: Would Castillo have been safe on that play last season? Carrying an extra 17 pounds and battling balky knees, probably not. Great numbers: .444 OBP, .444 with runners in scoring position, two bunt singles, four...

Crunching Numbers: RISP and patience
If we’re going to play the “history” card again, let’s be fair and judge history as a whole, not by a single at-bat in a single game.
Bolts keep rolling toward No. 3 seed, rushing title for L.T.
Source: Associated Press
By Bernie Wilson
SAN DIEGO (AP) — To some San Diego Chargers, there’s a playoff seeding to secure and a rushing title to win.
To others, such as defenders Luis Castillo and Shawne Merriman, they’re simply happy to be playing.
The Chargers maintained the insi...

Mets Rumors: Manny Ramirez, Players that might be on the outs!
One GM said he believes the Mets will make a big play for Manny Ramirez. It certainly seems like GM Omar Minaya is ready to finally try to land one of his favorite players -- though L.A. may be a better spot for Ramirez, who was raised in upper Manhattan but never liked the fishbowl existence in Boston that he would surely find in New York.
The Mets have a group of players they...
