Awful Announcing Inactive:
At first I thought I had seen something like this before, but the more and more I think about it, I don't think I have. At least to this degree. Padres catcher Michael Barrett was batting in the third inning of last night's game against the Rockies when he fouled the ball off....straight into his face....
Man, what is going on with Baseball these days? It's not like people are colliding in the field. They're all near the plate and people are just getting destroyed. The ump got stabbed with the broken bat, Felix Hernandez almost broke his ankle, two nut shots with one broken ball and now a foul ball to the grill. Just craziness.

The dumbest injuries in sports
This is certainly not a new list but in honour of Troy Tulowitzki's freak accident on Friday, we had to revisit the best of the best in terms of dumbest sports injuries ever.
Tulowitzki's Freak Injury
As if things weren't going bad enough on the field for the Colorado Rockies, now they can't even catch a break off of it. Over the weekend, shortstop Troy Tulowitzki went back on the DL with a hurt hand, just three weeks after returning from a torn thigh tendon that cost him 46 games.
The most noteworthy and bizarre aspect of this, however, is how Tulowitzki did this...
Toronto Shopping AJ Burnett
The Blue Jays need a shortstop and AJ Burnett seems to be the expendable bait. He is in the third year of a 5-year contract and has the option to opt out after this year. He is off to an 8-7 start with a 4.74 ERA. One player of interest to them appears to be Padres SS Khalil Greene.
Expect Padres to be Sellers at Trade Deadline
Padres CEO Sandy Alderson: "If we were to be buyers, it would be hard to choose among catcher, shortstop, outfield, starting pitcher, half the bullpen. There's not a shopping cart big enough." Summing up where they stand as the trade deadline, must be good news for teams looking for help. Expect pitchers Randy Wolf and Greg Maddux to go, among others.
Extreme Rockies Makeover: Brian Fuentes
Brian Fuentes has been at the center of trade rumors for each of the last three seasons, with nothing ever developing. What makes the talks more than just rumors this time is his impending status as a free agent.
Fuentes is a valuable asset. He's left-handed, he has closer experience — an all-star twice [...]
Brewers Close on Deal for Sabathia
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is reporting online within the last hour that a deal for CC Sabathia is so close to being done that prospect Matt Laporta has been scratched from tonight's lineup, to avoid injury on the verge on this deal. Two other minor league prospects are included in the deal. The paper is reporting that Sabathia has already been penciled in for Tuesday's game...
Worth Watching
I don't have any MLB All-Star Game tickets, but I'll certainly be watching Aaron Cook and Matt Holliday represent Colorado on the small screen this year. Good luck, guys. Make us proud!
Derrek Lee in ASG?
With the eye injury to Lance Berkman, will Derrek Lee get a his deserved nod on the National League All Star roster? Or, will Berkman still start? I know the Chicago Cubs already have seven players on the team, but who would jump Derrek Lee? Mark Teixeira? Prince Fielder? I just don't see it. Well, I see it, but I don't agree with it.As I posted with my choices for starters...
