Torre has to understand that he isn't in the Yankee organization anymor nor is he in New york. He is in teh arm pit of the West Coast - LA - Chavez Ravine, Everyone living in the general area has dreads - that's like asking Torre to shave his back if he was in little Italy.

In my opinion, nothing looks more feminine on a man than to have dreads. It's one thing on the street but not in sports. If he wants to look like a girl, he can go play softball. Torre did it with Damon with his long hair and will do it with Ramirez and his dreads. Manny may fake an injury for the rest of the season but he will still have to look like a guy again. First came dreads Now what's next? Guys wearing dresses?

You are entitled to your opinion( I mean that's what these things are for anyhow), but you may want to do some research into the history of Locks(not dreads), or ROOTS, as they are known to the true keepers of culture. Your views are outdated my man. Men of the Nazarene grew their hair to show their submission to THE MOST HIGH, as a man of Nazareth did not let sharp objects touch his face( moustach, beard) nor head. Manny, being a dark complexion person of South American descent( which really means AFRICAN OF THE DIASPORA), may just have a love of his TRUE culture, and may not adhere to the ways of WESTERN CULTURE. Therefore the feminine comment holds no validity, that's only inuendo. Anything different, to certain people, causes them to rail and react instead of checking the history. BombayBumaye, nothing was directed to any culture. Manny is not of african descent or anything close to that. If this was so important to a culture, then why haven't players been wearing dreads all along. These players are not showing respect to a culture. All they're trying to do is draw attention to themselves. If you're so rich in your culture then why don't you respond in your native language?

As long as he keeps his dreads clean, Torre needs to step off. You cut your dread when you are ready, not when someone else is ready. He can only ask, he can't make him. Dreads are not against MLB dress code. They traded for Manny and they knew he came with dreads. It's not like he signed with that exception
