Ten years and five days prior to Monday’s 14 innings of pure madness, the Braves and Rockies hooked up in their own 14 inning battle. The starting pitchers on that afternoon were the late Darryl Kile and the recently resurrected John Smoltz.  It was every bit the pitcher’s dual we saw between Barry Zito and Jason Marquis on Monday for the first seven innings. Smoltz, like Zito, only lasted six innings, but they were quality.  His only blemish was a two-run second inning homer by the forgotten Barry brother, Jeff.  He struck out eight, walked none, and allowed five hits.  Kile, like Marquis, was even better than that for seven innings.  His only mark was a Ryan Klesko RBI double in the...
