TEAMS: Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies, Detroit Tigers
We don't wish any ill will upon former Phillies when they head out of town, unless they salted the earth in some way when the left. Usually some service time either with the big club or in the farm system earns a guy a pass (unless he is just plain terrible). Still, we're usually not exactly hoping they take the baseball world by storm in another uniform either.
So when Carlos Carrasco, the once untouchable pitching prospect who became a key component of the Cliff Lee/Ben Francisco deal, took the mound for the Indians last night, most Philly fans were probably hoping for a quality start. Right? Maybe not, depending on the fan. Regardless, Carrasco didn't come close.
In three innings of work, Carrasco was lit up for six earned runs on nine hits, three of which left the park. The first inning saw the most carnage, with homers by former Phillie Placido Polanco and Carlos Guillen. He issued three walks and struck out three. Better luck next time. (OK, so it feels kinda good, only in that we can celebrate the Lee trade even more...)
