haha this is great...When Matt Stairs steps to the plate, there is one thing in mind, hitting the ball out of the yard..He swings at NO breaking balls and once he sees that fastball, he loads up and swings as hard as possible..If you are an opposing team/pitcher and Stairs is at the plate, you should be fined by upper management if you throw a fastball!!

700 Level:
John Finger of CSN and Finger Food has a cool piece on the Phillies' most recent folk hero, Mr. Matt Stairs, he of the Moonshot Stairses of Canada. Stairs has been as good with dispensing the great quotes as he has clutch home runs (really unfortunate/hilarious top YouTube hit for posterity to reflect upon), and Finger includes quite a few gems. My favorite is the closer:“I always say I take one swing for the fans and the rest for my teammates.”

Phightin Phils Phorum - Philadelphia New York Rivalry to Heat Up Even More? Rollins Calls Out Yankees!
I guess the rivalry between the Phillies and Mets is not enough for Jimmy Rollins. In the June edition of Playboy, Rollins predicts that the Phillies will face the Yankees in the World Series. How fun would it be to have the rivalry switch to the other side of New York come October? Rollins would truly be public enemy number one in New York if this were to happen. One question though...

Ryan Howard says he may have a career in football
Personally, I think Ryan Howard would be a great TE in the NFL. He has the size and pretty decent speed. He also would be commited every day to be better than everybody else. I hope this will not happen, without him, we have no chance of repeating as World Champions. Tell me what yall think.
Phightin Phils Phorum - Off Day Ponderings
After beating the first place St Louis Cardinals the Philadelphia Phillies looked as though they were going to go on a roll and take charge in the National League East. After being swept in New York and losing 2 out of 3 at home to the Braves, question marks about what is missing arise. The lineup certainly is not the question nor is the bench. Starting pitching has been poor but...
Two Roster Moves That the Phillies Should Make
Okay, well, at least one.The Phillies did a great job with their payroll in the off-season. They gave good contracts to Ryan Howard, Jayson Werth, Shane Victorino, Jamie Moyer and Cole Hamels and inked Raul Ibanez as a free agent. The latter signing looks to be a brilliant move. They increased their payroll almost 30% during the worst recession anyone can remember, and they made...

Nationals 3B Zimmerman Extends Hitting Streak To 28
Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman
extended his hitting streak to 28 games against the Diamondbacks at
Chase Field on Sunday afternoon. The streak is the longest in baseball
this season, and he is now halfway to Joe DiMaggio’s record 56-game
streak.
When told he was at the midway
point, Zimmerman rolled his eyes and said, “Halfway, huh? There’s a
long way to go. I’m concentrating...
Werth helps Phillies steal one from Dodgers
Maybe Jayson Werth should be the new lead-off man?In a game
that saw Charlie Manuel drop Jimmy Rollins from the lead-off spot to
5th in the batting order, Jayson Werth made his case for taking over
the top spot in the order when he stole four bases against the Dodgers
in a 5-3 Phillies victory.Werth stole his first base in the 2nd
inning, then proceeded to...
Time for a flip-flop, Cholly
A temporary respite from the leadoff spot is a good idea. But banishing J-Roll to the bottom of the order does neither the team nor its struggling sparkplug any good. You need J-Roll's wheels near the top of the order.

Rollins to hit fifth against Dodgers
After several days of speculation, and denial, about whether
Phillies’ manager Charlie Manuel would move shortstop Jimmy Rollins out
of his customary leadoff role in the team’s offense, he has decided to
do just that.
In the series opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight,
Rollins will hit fifth, with centerfielder Shane Victorino batting in

Ryan Zimmerman in an impatient man. You can tell. He is in the midst

to center field extending his hitting streak to 30 games. That's 30
