I would rather hire Larry Bowa to be the 3rd base coach and.....Willie Randolph to be the Bench Coach! I think the team need more veteran leadership under Girardi. I will be the first to say that I really wanted Girardi over Mattingly because I felt that Maggs was more of the same. ie. Jor Torre and that was clearly not working for us. The Yankees need the same thing from the bench coach and 3rd base coach as they need form any player that we replace in the offseason, Attitude and hustle!! We need what Philly has in Victorino, you are never out of it when you have guys like that on the bench or on the field. Gardner is that type of player, so is Nady. Bowa is that type of coach, and Cano clearly missed him BIG time last year. The Yankees need CHANGE! Maybe if Obama doesnt win the Presidency, he could become the Yankees 3b coach.

New York Mets Daily:
This is just me thinking out loud but, now that New York Yankees have let third base coach Bobby Meacham go, whose name is tumbling in the rumor mill to replace him?
Of course, Willie Randolph.

A-Rod Madonna Rumors Swirl Again
Madonna is divorcing Guy Ritchie and the A-Rod rumors are circulating once again. Damn you A-Rod!
A-Rod makes $25 mil a year. He's arguably the greatest baseball player of our generation. He'll retire as the home run king. Yet, despite all these positives, A-Rod decides that dating Madonna is something to add to his lore. Look Alex, dating Madonna is cool if it was...

Where's the disconnect over Carp...
Two years ago Mike Carp was one of the Mets top prospects and many thought when Delgado moved on he was the heir apparent. Carp had a miserable 2007 where he was hampered by injuries and the team was dissatisfied with his conditioning. Carp had a solid 2008 in which he hit .299 with a .471 Slg. pct. in Binghamton and was an all-star his detractors will say thats a result of repeating...
Kunz learned 'patience' in 2008
Adam Rubin's Surfin' the Mets blog has a Q & A with Mets prospect Eddie Kunz.
The Mets reliever, who was promoted from Double-A Binghmaton last July, said his experience in 2008 will take away the "shock" of the pitching in the majors next time the opportunity comes.
Mr. Met is Back Pimpin'
Last May, Deadspin posted some pics of the New York Mets' most eligible bachelor, Mr. Met, enjoying the NYC night life. From the picture above it appears that the old guy is back in action and recovering well from Mets Collapse: The Sequel. What strikes us about this picture is how incredibly natural the photo looks. Yes, one of the parties involved has a giant baseball as a head...
Phil Hughes Does It Again
In his second start in the Arizona Fall League, Phil Hughes threw yet another great game. Hughes allowed just four hits and one walk for one run (a home run), while striking out three in five innings. This is a huge step from last week's performance, despite the fact that Hughes allowed a run, due to the fact that his number of walks decrease drastically. This could show that...
Willie back to the Yankees?
Now that the Yankees have fired 3rd base coach Bobby Meacham the door remains open for Willie Randolph.
In a article by George King in the NY Post, Willie was quoted:
"I heard rumors about [Yankee] changes," "I haven't talked to anyone. I buzzed Brian to congratulate him [on his new contract], but other than that I have had no contact at all. I'll try...
What Are The Odds: Boston's Big Comebacks
You can't read (and I can't write) anything about the current state of the ALCS without seeing a reference to Boston coming back from a 3-0 deficit in the '04 CS, and a 3-1 deficit last year. I thought I'd take a look at what the odds were of those comebacks happening, and how that compares to this year.2004 ALCSFrom Covers, here are the lines from G4-G7 of the series...

Third-base coach Bobby Meacham and special pitching instructor Rich Monteleone have been fired
The Yankees fired 3rd base coach Bobby Meachem and special pitching instructor Rich Monteleone yesterday. I saw the firing of Meachem coming, but not so much Monteleone. Meachem might be a very nice guy, but that doesn't make him a good third base coach. He would wave runners home when they didn't have a chance. At the same time, he also didn't send runners when they...

NLCS Thoughts
My civic duties (there was a debate I had to wound myself with) prevented this from getting my full attention, but here's the quick and dirty...> Who's the bigger Dodger goat -- Raffy Furcal, whose two-error inning deepened the malaise? Russell Martin, who hit .118 behind Manny? Or -- and this is my choice -- Chad Billingsley, who blew up in two of the five games, had...
Will the Mets make a big push for Lowe....
I said to begin the NLCS that if there was one player we could sign I would pick Derek Lowe and after watching him pitch in this series despite his team losing both his starts nothing has changed. In game one Lowe did everything he could to keep his team in the game and it was the offense that failed to produce, until the fifth he was perfect and still battled into the seventh giving...
