Gary Sheffield impressed the heck out of me, for all those who don't believe a player can rise to an occasion, all you have to do is look at Gary Sheffield's game log since he's been with the Mets. When Carlos Delgado went down, Sheffield said to himself that he had to carry this team and by May 27th he had raised his batting average 100 points ( .295).Unfortunately, Sheffield forgot he's 40 years old and couldn't sustain that type of pace, he now looks like an old man playing a young mans game and his average has already sunk over 40 points ( .259). Sheffield needs to be a part-time bench player but that leaves this line-up without a true, intimidating power threat. While several trade candidates have been bantered about, the Mets may have an in-house option to at least look at until were closer to the dead-line.Wily Mo Pena needed to prove his shoulder is healthy, after getting off to a slow start in Buffalo, he's raised his average to .254 and is looking really good. Omar must pull the trigger, but for what??
Every one knows the Mets are struggling to stay off the mash unit...Omar Minaya has to figure that there must be a upgrade in his offense, but which defensive position it must be.. He has Jose Reyes on the shelf for a month, but chances are he will let Cora make the best of his time in the lineup. I like Cora's grit to handle the lefties, but remember he is also playing hurt and...
