You have to question if the Red Sox really want Santana. Obviously he'll improve the team, but the one thing the Red Sox don't need is a starter. Reports are with their current roster; they are considering a six-man rotation (Josh Beckett, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Curt Schilling, Tim Wakefield, Lester, and Buchholz). As much as a Beckett/Santana righty/lefty duo will make any Red Sox's fan mouth water, do they really want him or are they just making things difficult for the Yankees?
To heighten the drama, Yankees owner Hank Steinbrenner has set a deadline for today to get the deal done or the Yankees are out. While it sounds like the Yankees are making a stand, didn't they tell Alex Rodriguez the same thing if he opted out of his contract? We all know how that worked out.

A-Rod to have hip surgery to remove cyst, out until May
That's according to Alex Rodriguez's brother. ESPN's Cindy Brunson relayed the news by screaming it out during the morning SportsCenter as if she'd just won the lottery.
If you happen to catch the coverage of this on ESPN, it's living, breathing proof of the over-exaggerated nature of the A-Rod coverage. The anchors discussing the story are being so mellow...
Did You See AROD on 60 Minutes?
Good Monday morning, a wickedly cold one here in north central Connecticut. Katie Couric interviewed Alex Rodriguez on the CBS show "60 Minutes" last night, and I thought it was a balanced interview with fair questions abounding. AROD came off as ALMOST likeable, and I think, for the most part, he wa...
On the DL Again: Baldelli, Schilling & Others
Will either of these two players play baseball in 2008? Rocco has been hampered by injury in almost every year of his young professional career. Could this be the start of the end of his MLB career? I for one, hope not! He's a talented player that I would have loved to have had on my team at one time. Let's just hope that this doesn't become a more serious health concern...
Back to Fenway
Â
It was not to be last night in Cleveland for the Indians. Too much Josh Beckett. Beckett dominated the Tribe hitters for eight innings, allowing just one run in a 7-1 Red Sox victory. So, the series goes back to Fenway Park for Game 6 Saturday night, with the Indians still needing one victo...
The media’s steroid double standard

Fun to watch
In the game, for me, there are some guys that I would pay to see play. Of course it's a little easier for me to get a ticket, but fans talk to me about this all the time, and I like to hear about it 'cause everyone is their guy. Here are some of my guys and why.

A-Rod Now Faces The Most Important At-Bat Of His Career
Alex Rodriguez is at the plate right now. We're all waiting to see what he'll do.Most of us want him to hit a home run ("Yes, it's all true. I did steroids and have no excuses for it").Some of us just want him to get a hit ("Yes, it's true I did steroids, but there was a very good reason for it.").There are probably a few people out there in the...

PAVANO WILL ACCEPT ASSIGNMENT TO MINORS - George King of the NY Post. Thanks to Rebecca for the tip.

A-Rod has his say on 60 Minutes
Alex Rodriguez did fine on 60 Minutes. His “Hmm, I have to think about that before giving an answer” expression is certainly well-rehearsed.
He gave a firm denial when asked whether he has used PEDs and he went after Scott Boras again. Meanwhile, did you notice the signed Roger Clemens je...

Have Orioles Fans Let Aubrey Huff Off the Hook?
Imagine if Alex Rodriguez was on a radio show and said "I'll just be real. New York is the sh*ttiest town in the world. Seriously."
Implosion? Mass rioting? Perhaps the media outlets in New York would abandon what little journalistic integrity remains and let loose on that "Gay-Rod" headline they've been keeping on the backburner for so long.
