After a 46 hour rain delay, it's Geoff Jenkins, a mostly useless guy all year, out to hit for Hamels. Ball one is greeted with a thunderous roar. He swings and misses at 95, up and out. Balfour gets strike two, 96 and low; he looks sharp, but he's also breathing hard, and misses outside, even faster. He might be gripping a bit... and he overthrows again, taking the count full. Jenkins then absolutely crushes one to the wall in center right, some 395 feet away. He might have thought third, but that would have been a bad thought, given that Bossman Junior picked up the ball.Rollins drops a first pitch bunt to third, moving Jenkins to third. Perfect execution, if not the best possible result. It's on Jayson Werth to get the run home.Ball one, wild high. Rays warming two lefties in the pen. Ball two is away, still 95. Werth watches strike one inside high, and I don't think Balfour has thrown anything that has varied in speed. Another fastball in the same location is foul...

The drought is over! The Phillies win it all!
It feels great to type this: the Philadelphia Phillies are the 2008 World Champions!!! For the first time in my conscious life, a Philadelphia sports team is a champion. It feels great now, but how big of a deal this is might not settle in for a while.
When I first started this blog back in January, one of the first posts I wrote was titled "The Next Philly Sports Champ"...
Philadelphia Freedom
Last night something happened in Philadelphia. It was more than just a win. It was more than a World Series championship. It was a giant sigh of relief. A weight was lifted off an entire fan base. After 25 years of no championships for a city, years of almosts wons, years of letdowns, last night the city rejoiced. And I was lucky enough to be around for it.
My Phillies Dream Last Sunday night (Or-Would everyone please quit whining about the decision to play Game 5 despite the bad weather forecast?)
I had a dream on Sunday night that Pat Gillick and Charlie Manual had a meeting with Bud Selig, the Commissioner of MLB. Pat & Charlie dreamt up a lop-sided proposal for the Phillies and went into the room to try to sell it to Bud. The meeting was held on Monday morning. Pat and Charlie were trying to negotiate the following conditions of a lop-sided Phillies deal with Bud...

There will be November Baseball a?? in 2009
Do you like those cute little Elmer Fudd ear-flappedA baseball capsA the Phillies and Rays have been wearing in Philly for the World Series?A Get used to them - they"ll be back next year.
I've heard a lot of griping about late-October baseball this postseason, brought on by the rain-induced suspension of Game 5 of the World Series [...]
Climb a street sign in Philly, get a bottle to the head, and then fall down.
During the World Series celebration (riot) in Philadelphia last night, some shirtless moron decided to make himself the center of attention by climbing up a traffic light on Broad Street.
And Philly fans (rioters) let him have it a?? with a bottle a?? to the head.
Fall down, go Boom.
The loud *CLINK* you hear is not edited.
Holy [...]
Who is Rich Gedman And what about his sister Fran Fusco?
I am wondering because she wears Rays gear and has been inducted into the Pepsi/Rays Fan Wall of Fame. If you are gonna be a Rays Wall of Famer how do you have the nerve to wear Red Sox gear to Rays games when they play the Red Sox. I am not knocking Fran for being a Red Sox fan but I am actually shedding a little light on part of the problem with the Rays fanbase. Fran if you'...
The Phillies Are World Series Champions
Ending a 25-year championship drought, the Philadelphia Phillies are the 2008 Major League Baseball World Champions, beating the Tampa Bay Rays four games to one in the best of seven World Series.
Closer Brad Lidge's last devastating slider of the season, striking out Eric Hinske, wiped away the ghosts of lost championships past.
Gone are Mitch Williams (version: mullett...
Drunk Phillies Phan Flashes the crowd on Broad Street
So we've seen some video today of some idiot Phillies Fan dropping from the sky after getting totally noggined by a Vodka bottle.
Let's stay with the celebration (riot), but let's go with some less violent video a?? of a Philly Phan Phlashing the crowd (rioters) during the World Series celebration (riot) a??

There's No Better Way To Celebrate Than With Phillies "Lucky" Rain
If you're a Phillies fan it's time to go crazy and celebrate. A Those in Philadelphia already have. A But if not it's time to get in on the action. A You could celebrate like this:Or even something like this:The odds are against you doing anything of that sort. A So why not do something sensible instead. A Commemorative shirts and hats are acceptable. A But here's...
Perhaps a storybook ending for Burrell
If this was Pat Burrell's last memory of Philadelphia, and the last memory the city will have of Burrell in a home uniform, then it was a better ending than either the player or the town had a right to expect.
"I'm taking in the moment," Burrell said last night, soaked from the champagne celebration in the clubhouse. "The players, the fans. We've been...
The Phillies Are Champions Of Baseball
Let's go back and look at the most exciting 3.5 innings of our lives:
First off, Chase Utley made one of a?" if not, the best baseball plays I've ever seen. (...)
The Celebration Last Night from Broad Street in Philly
The Phillies are your 2008 World Series Champions. This video isn't really over the top with violence although it does feature bonfires, street signs being ripped down, and a tree being violently shook. Congrats to the Phillies, their fans, and especially series MVP Cole Hamels who was absolute money this postseason.
Rays fans as lame, unoriginal douches: Volume III
Maybe we've been a little critical on this whole new Rays Nation thing.
It's just a little weird, witnessing a whole slue of bandwagoners emerge in a matter of months. At least with the Red Sox in 2004, there was the entire off-season as a grace period before the pink hats began full force.
See this mid-season [...]
Congrads Phillie Phans!
I will be the first to admit I didn't think they would be able to do it. I really wasn't rooting for anyone. The Rays were a great story and it would have been nice to see a team go from worst to first. On the other hand I wanted to see some players like Lidge, Jenkins, Utley...etc. take that trophy home to Philadelphia. I just thought the starting pitching outside of Hamels...
