Tough to get excited about a guy like Hillenbrand, but if your options are guys like Cairo, Josh Phelps and Mientkiewicz, then I guess I can understand. Actually, I take that back. Is this the best that they can do? Try harder Cashman.
Hillenbrand got a bad rap for what happened in Toronto, and we have not heard anything negative about him out of the LAA camp, so cancer I dont know. Hillenbrand is just as good as Cairo, has more experience than Phelps, and hits better than Mientkiewicz ( spell check?). But who would the Yanks give up for him? prospects which they dont (and never) have, a crappy arm, the Rocket, or Don Mattingly?
combo Andy Philips and Miguel Cairo. Let's not worry about trying to bring in new bats. Why not focus on the struggling bats that make up this atrocious lineup?
