Yanks A-Rod to Angels in '07?

"Rodriguez won't come cheaply. The Yankees figure to ask for no less than Ervin Santana, Scot Shields, Chone Figgins and a high-level prospect."

If the Yankees could really grab that kind of haul in exchange for A-Rod, it would almost be a no-brainder. NY paid $7 Million a year for the services of Kyle Farnsworth, a pitcher with far less value than Scott Shields. Ervin Santana is the perfect player to acquire for a team rebuilding it's staff. He'll be entering his third year and will cost relatively nothing. It wasn't that long ago that he was rumored for Carl Crawford straight up. Figgins would probably become the team's 3B, but would also bring to the team added versatility. Any high level prospect on top of that would be gravy. The yankees could address all of their needs with one move while dumping offense, something they have in bulk already.

Obviously, these are all rumors, but the Angels seem highly intent on dumping several of their high end prospects for less than their market value. Every time there is a rumored deal involving Anaheim, it's always "Superstar so and so for Ervin Santana, Brandon Wood, and another player". Why is Anaheim trying to shoot themselves in the foot? Does A-Rod still carry the same weight he did when he was wasting away in Texas? He's no longer the bets player in baseball by a long shot.

I don't think Wood is headed anywhere, but Figgins will most likely be gone. Santana is always mentioned because 1) the Angels have a ton of pitching and 2) he's arguably the best bargaining chip the Angels have. Personally, I think A-Rod makes a lot of sense on the Angels.

Why does Figgins get no love? His roster flexibility and speed are incredibly valuable. I would love this deal for the Yankees. NYC clearly doesnt care for Pay-Rod and the Yanks could use a youth injection. I find it hard to believe they would be able to get all of these guys in this type of deal.

Figgins speed is offset by his poor AVG (.265), OBP (.334) and SLG (.373). Despite his speed, he's been somewhat of a liability as a lead off man. He's hasn't gotten on base at a high enough clip and the Angels have failed to score runs all year because of it.

HEY LOVE THANK FOR THE INPUT.BUT I PRAY THAT THATS ONLY A STORY TO PUT A FIRE UNDER AROD.THE YANKEES ARE THE BEST IN THEY FIELD BECAUSE OF THE SCOUT THEY HAVE.IF THEY THOUHT THAT AROD WAS ON HIS WAY OUT.BELIEVE YOU ME THAT THE STORY WOULD NOT BE PUT OUT THERE FOR EVERONE TO SEE JUST YET.BUT THEN AGAIN LIKE I SAID I HOPE YOU ARE WRONG AND IT IS ONLY A STORY.BUT JUST TO BE ON THE SAVE SIDE SO I DON'T GET CAUGHT SLEEPING.THANK'S NANABRONX172
