New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter's career is winding down, and could finish up in the next season or two. But when Jeter retires, don't expect to see him in the broadcast booth. During an interview on Brandon Steiner's SteinerCast podcast, Jeter said he has no desire to enter a career in broadcasting once his on-field career is completed. “I would have a hard time criticizing people,” Jeter said. “I know how difficult it is. A lot of times, ex-players come in and act like everything was so easy when they were playing. I played against them. I couldn’t criticize people. I think that would be difficult.” This seems to me like a typical response from Jeter. He has a pretty solid reptuation throughout the game as an extremely nice guy, and I can definitely buy his excuse of not wanting to criticize a former teammate or opponent. But honestly, I think Jeter would actually be pretty good as an analyst. He's extremely well-spoken and has an excellent mind for the game, and could probably do an amazing job breaking down at bats. I'm curious as to whether or not a network will throw bucketloads of money at Jeter in an attempt to get him to change his mind. [New York Daily News]
