It will go down in the books as the second complete game for Joe Blanton. But the Phillies might as well get a complete game as well.
For a team that has struggled to find its way lately, the Phillies had everything from start to finish. They hit, they pitched, they fielded, and when it was all over, they won.
They hadn’t won a series in June. Now they have, as they finished off the Twins in one of their most well-rounded games of the season.
Ty Wigginton opened the scoring with a bang, hitting a solo home run to left to put the Phillies on the board.
The Twins and Trevor Plouffe had an answer with a solo shot in the bottom of the second.
