Awful Announcing Inactive:

TBS has all four of the opening round series during the 2008 MLB Playoffs and they have finally released the pairings for each of them. TBS had some interesting choices with whom to put with whom, and where to send their top team, but in the end I think they did the best they could. The top team of Chip Caray and Buck Martinez get to go L.A. for the Sox and Angels, and here are the rest of the teams and schedules for game each series....
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Philadelphia Phillies (Wednesday, 2:30pm) - Brian Anderson, Joe Simpson and John Smoltz
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Chicago Cubs (Wednesday, 6:30pm) - Dick Stockton, Ron Darling and Tony Gwynn
Boston Red Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels (Wednesday, 10pm) - Chip Caray and Buck Martinez
Chicago White Sox or Minnesota Twins vs. Tampa Bay Rays (Thursday, 2:30pm) - Don Orsillo and Harold Reynolds
But wait.....there's more! The White Sox-Tigers makeup game is on ESPN2 tomorrow at 2pm (no word on announcers yet). If the White Sox win, the one game Playoff between the Sox and Twins will be Tuesday on TBS with Dick Stockton, Ron Darling and Harold Reynolds on the call. And lastly the two other games on Thursday following Game One of the AL Central Winner and the Rays will be Brewers-Phils at 6:30pm and Dodgers-Cubs at 9:30pm.
Whew....okay. I think all of that is right. As far as the booths go, I really like the teams of Orsillo-Reynolds and Anderson-Simpson-Smoltz. I will also be doing everything I can to avoid the dreadful trio of Stockton, Darling and Gwynn. It's going to be a fun Playoff season and I hope you're ready.
