Jun Shiraishi and his family came all the way from Japan to meet Ichiro as part of a Make-a-Wish Foudation venture. Shiraishi, 18, is undergoing treatment for a life-threatening form of multiple sclerosis. He was in a wheelchair but otherwise in good health and spirits Wednesday, especially after Ichiro walked over during batting practice to talk to Jun.
The Little League State Champions from Mercer Island, both boys and girls teams, are also here tonight and being honored. They got to go on the field and watch Ken Griffey, Jr. take some BP:
